slot cutting jig

I had been needing an efficient way to cut clean-ish 1/4" slots in some 5/8" stock. Went through a couple less than ideal solutions. Finally fabbed up this nice one for my needs, which seems so obvious after the fact...but don't they always...

I had originally cut out a piece of 1/4" plate and then went looking for an arm to weld it to when I stumbled on my stock of angle iron. Oh...duh!

I like that! If you want to cut multiple slots (like teeth on a comb) you could tap the top leg of the angle iron and have a bolt sticking up next to the disc to automatically space the slots.

Could make dovetail joints in steel that way!

Actually, I may want to control thickness from one side and may employ that. Maybe removing exposed threads.

FWIW, this one might be more generally useful. I love this thing and use it regularly.

Was just a quick and dirty fab for some long forgotten project. But I've used it tons over the years and wish I'd spent more time squaring it up properly, sizing the slot, etc.
