Is it just me? The sight window is easy as can be to read, and spending money
for food coloring never even entered my mind. I think the sight window is a
great feature.

I dunno, I have read so many posts of people saying they have a very difficult time seeing the level in the sight glass. Maybe it's more of an issue if the window gets dirty or scratched up. One advantage I see for the dye is to help see the fluid in the event of a sudden leak. On a concrete floor, the fluid would be easy to see but not so much on dirt or grass. I think the red tint would help with that.

True story,

It (dye) helped me for sure.

There is no way we would have seen that leak until the reservoir was dry.

But I could not see the level in the sight glass either.

So win/win, for me at least.

IIRC, this happening to you is what made me buy the red dye...

I wonder if over time the dye is going to stain the sight glass and make it harder to, see?

Just got a Kubota L2502 Tractor Package from the local dealer. Comes with a whole list of attachments

Offer Includes:
+ Kubota LA526 Loader
+ Kubota 66" Quick Attach Bucket with Bolt on Cutting Edge
+ Land Pride BB1260 - 60" Box Scraper
+ Land Pride AP-PFL3048 - 48" Pallet Forks
+ Land Pride QH16 Quick Hitch
+ Land Pride RCF2060 - 60" Smooth Top Cutter

First new tractor ever, and hoping that this thing will do what I need it to.

Using it to clear a chunk of sagebrush property and rocks, grade driveway, move snow, etc. I will be hopping on this site if I ever encounter any issues or have any questions.
Hope your dealer covered the use of rear ballast. Very in important when tractor has a frt end loader. Numerous ways to go from rear weight ballast to liquid ballast in tires. Possible your dealer already had tire ballast pumped in. I would check if nothing was said.

My reason for the dye was it is very difficult to tell the fluid level IF the fluid level is NOT in the window, as in completely below, or above the window ... It is hard to tell when filling while it may be close (my fluid is basically clear) ... Is it in need of more, or is it already too much??? On my little baby overgrown lawn mower which only holds 2.9 gallons of hydraulic fluid, it's a very fine line on being "just right", and easy to see on a glance walking by if it were low ... As in not showing in the window ... Old eyes make life interesting!

I've made room on my shelf for the tiny 4 oz bottle! 😅

Yes rear ballast is very important, read the manual, following is an example I posted on another forum of a guy on his third front axle bearing repair, after stated almost never using rear ballast with the LA724 loader, falsely thinking filled tires was "enough" ...

Screenshot_20241122-110938-159~2.png

It's not an either/or situation, it's a "use both" situation, not only for safety of not tipping over sideways, as the front axle is on a pivot, but to take the weight off the front axle ...

Notice how much the backhoe weighs ...

Screenshot_20241122-111321~2.png

Notice all these pictures of USING the loader, shows rear ballast being used.
Screenshot_20241122-111639.png

Notice how much the lift capacity is ...

In my opinion, and the dealers will not usually give you an actual number, nor does the manual, but ... I believe you should have as much on the back, or more, than you plan on picking up on the front ...

TLB's have no way to add additional rear ballast, so I like that number as a starting point ... Filled tires are more for traction and lowering the center of gravity ...

My backhoe weighs 650.4 Lbs, weighed it myself, my rear ballast box I made myself weighs 707.0 Lbs ... And I have rear tires filled ...

OK, first problems...

1) all the paperwork, owner manuals, etc are soaked through. Were all wire-tied to various parts of the tractor for the 4 hour drive during delivery, and they are all soaked through and illegible. Can I locate a digital copy somewhere? Maybe request a digital or paper version from dealer? Would prefer something I can access NOW since I will be using the tractor for 2 weeks before I return to town where the dealer is located. I have lots of questions I need answered before then.

2) there is no tractor triangle (is that the correct term?). The mounting pole is attached, but no triangle. Would that come with it from the dealer or is that something I need to purchase separately?

Luckily, no serious issues, so far.

The operator’s manual can be downloaded. Someone will probably post a link. The SMV triangle is part of the basic tractor and your dealer needs to provide a replacement.

See if the manual is here

you can filter it to tractors but that still leaves over 300 to look through. I don’t know what tractor you ended up with so could not search for it. I am pretty sure it is there though.

If not then search for Kubota books dot com website and see if it is available there.

If you download the Kubota app, you can associate your tractor to it and track hours/maintenance. Also the manual is available in the app.

If you need to buy one I'll send you both of mine if you want them. I have absolutely no use for them!

Congratulations on the tractor.

As far as the delivery / manual…I am going to go against the grain here, but included in the price was the manual and slow moving vehicle sign. This is a data point and IMO the dealer should fix their mistake, assuming that is who delivered the unit. If you picked up at the dealer and destroyed the manual that’s your fault. If the dealer delivered in that condition I think it’s their responsibility to replace it. If they tell you to shove it that’s a data point when you need service. Just sayin’. Is it the end of the world? No. Is it a data point? it sure is IMO.

Anyway, I’d give the dealer the chance to make it right. I’d hope they would offer that without being asked honesty. YMMV.

Enjoy the tractor.

Oh, I must have missed something if it’s walking distance…I assumed tractor was trailered to you thru rain when said being delivered. If it’s walking distance why didn’t they hand you the manuals in a vinyl envelope / binder then?

Tractor was not delivered to his office, but four hours away ...

It's possible the delivery driver removed the Slow Moving Vehicle (SMV) "triangle" if the tractor was driven forward onto the trailer, as it's illegal to go down the road at highway speed with it on the back ... Could be they forgot to put it back on after delivery, they just snap on or off, some bolt on ... I have no use for one, I don't drive my tractor on the road, mounted it to my gate!

Sorry for the confusion. I have a small ranch out 4 hours away from Seattle area, I work and live most of the time just outside of Seattle, where the dealer is located. We are at the ranch for the Christmas break, for the next two weeks.

It WAS trailered by a professional hot-shot and delivered yesterday.

i have downloaded the myKubota app, and it has everything I need (except for the triangle reflector).

Yes, it was trailered forward, but the driver said he never removed it. I can grab one from the dealer in a few days when I get back into town.
