New here and looking for some advice.

Got a line on an 07 BX24D for $4500. LA240 loader, BT604 backhoe and a brush hog included.
“Low hours” but haven’t confirmed what’s actually on the machine since I cant get it started.

Cranks and seems like it wants to start, but just a bit of white smoke.

Shutoff solenoid operating fine, fuel pump seems to be in order. And bled the lines after draining and refilling the fuel and new filters.

The seller wants it gone as is. With the implements i don’t think its a loser for me, but what am I in for?

What else should I check/test before forking over the cash?

If the price is right take it and run, the D902's are easy to work on and easy to get parts for.

Once home do a compression test, that will tell you / us where to go next.

DO NOT use stating fluid on it.

yeah, I copied, zoomed 1st picture... blue can says 'starting fluid' on it !!!!
still, offer $4000 knowing you have to rebuild the engine. pretty sure the loader and BH could be sold for more than that or replace engine for $3K ? and well under 10K you've got a very nice machine !

backstory..... from the pictures...
it wouldn't start, he USED starting fluid(ether), engine's kaput, wife's fed up, ie get that junk outta here, 'yes dear', so the low price 'won'tFIRE sale.
if I was within driving distance, I'd buy it, nice 'winter project'..warm garage, nice tunes, no phone, and some orange to work on......

Got a deal done at $4250. Picking it up later this week. Thanks for the advice guys!

I'll probably start another thread for diagnostics and repairs to get it running again.

Cheers

The first thing to do is a compression test if you can borrow a tester. Then drain the fuel and install new filters and check the fuel pump. Keep notes as to what you have done so you can keep track of the diagnostics.

I think that was the one BX model series that Kubota switched to using plastic for various parts like the hood, rear fenders, etc., for some reason. Was not popular with owners and they went back to steel with the next series. You may want to check the condition of those parts for cracks, faded color, etc Won't affect how it runs but may or may not need some attention.

Got it home today and picked up a diesel compression test kit on the way.

Called my local dealer to see if they could confirm one of the fittings would be right for either injector or glow plug, but no help there.

From looking online it seems the glow plugs on a D902 are M8x1.00? Still trying to find what the injector size is.

It's the plastic hood and fenders. Very small crack on one of the fenders, but the hood is in decent shape. First order of business is to get it running!
