Hello all,

Wanted to share my experience with tire chains.

— Sunday Nights Adventure —

Sunday evening, once it was done snowing I headed out to plow my driveway and any driveway around me that needed clearing. We had approx. 4 inches of wet snow that was hard packed in places where it had been driven over.

Warmed up the LX2610 and headed out. Put back blade and forward blades on and started at it. First driveway was mine, 1 inch gravel with little slope to it. Went smoothly with only a little tire spin. Two other driveways went similarly well with no real concerns.

Enter Glenn’s driveway, approx. 400 yard long driveway with a large loop, and a narrow funnel like situation as it approaches the road. Went up and dropped back blade as ground lacks a good frost and was trying not to dig in too much. Repeated this a second time dragging snow down to the road to be plowed to the side. Upon my third trip up his driveway I could not get past the narrow funnel on the hill. Ended up sliding down multiple times either backwards or sideways, attempted backing up no dice. Good pucker factor!

— The Install —

Sunday nights adventure convinced me it was time to install the new Trygg tire chains I had not yet unboxed from last year. Having never install chains of this size on anything I decided to warm up and ready for the process with some Youtube videos. Seemed simple enough, but it always seems that way. YouTube has really changed how many of us approach projects, mainly for the better I believe.

Seeing as it was Glenn’s driveway that took a few years off my life I recruited him to assist with the chain install. This led to him leading and myself, will I was demoted to assistant. Fine by me.

After rolling the first chain in to place, we realized we had to shorten it quite a bit. Good news is that part was pretty simple, removed two couplers and boom.

Next we linked it all together, and binded it tight. It’s a two man job for sure as I see it. Could I have done it on my own sure thing, but I recommend having helo the first time.

— The Results —

Went out today to test this bad boys out, Glenn’s driveway the site of my almost demise was the target. Let’s just say these chains turned the old LX2610 into a mountain goat, or gave it the abilities to climb just about anything. Did not spin the tires once.

Cannot recommend tire chains enough, I always managed without them but what a game changer.

Cheers,
Travis

You won't be disappointed with Trygg chains. Have had a few sets on different tractors and won't buy any other brand. Your puckering days are over. Nice job on the install.

I might suggest if your going to park or drive it on Garage floors that you would like to keep nice, you might want to invest in some heavy rubber stall mats.
