Hi all, I’m a new-b to the tractor world but not to wrenching or fabricating/welding. I just bought a nice L245, low hours, has a few attachments, but I was wondering if it would handle a 4540A backhoe? I know the spec hoe is a 4520, but could the L245 handle the weight if I fab some frame brackets?

Top of my head NO, it's used for a MUCH heavier and bigger tractor.

30-50 Hp vs 25 horse tractors?
It's not as much of a HP issue as it is a mass issue, the tractors that it's rated for, have a lot more mass.

I see your in my area, (Sandpoint) If you have land like mine, 99% sand, then that BH with the right subframe might be workable, but if you dealing with rocks and tree stumps, you'll end up breaking the tractor.

Thanks Wolfman, As things turned out, when I went to pick up the tractor, one last inspection revealed that all was not as seller claimed, so I killed the deal. A couple days later I picked up a pretty nice 2850DT-GST. I’m in Bonners, and yes the soil is sandy.
