The tach/hour meter on my B6200E crapped out and the replacement part is discontinued and not available. Does anyone know of a substitute from another manufacturer or aftermarket that will work?

Google Tachometer Repair. There are several good places that will repair and rebuild old tachometers. That way you can have your original one and have it work like new.

Thanks for the replies. The problem is in the tach head. I suspect their is a spring inside to return the needle to zero and my guess is that spring has failed. At this point I'm looking for a salvaged part. That failing I'll look for an aftermarket solution, and after that I'll have to go the repair route.

an option....
If you're very, very careful you CAN unroll the 'rolled rim' and get to the 'guts'. Then fix what is busted, then reattach the bezel and crimp. Yes, you'll have a few crimp marks from your pliers but it'll be a working tach.

Send @Mountainman and @007kubotaguy a message and see if either of them has one or a lead on one.

I took the tach apart - what the heck it doesn't work, is expensive to rebuild, and the tractor doesn't really need it - and the spring has broken at its outside attachment point. Looks like it might have come loose from the inside as well but I can't see how it attaches to the needle shaft ....not yet anyway. And the bezel is a bit worse for the effort and the glass didn't make it through the episode.

I'm happy you actually made the eoffort to tear it apart..er.. carefully disassemble it.... !!
Yeah, bezels take a beating until your 8th or 9th...by them you'll have some 'custom made' tools to minimize the carnage.
Only takes 3 or 4 tries to make a replacement glass (or cheat, go to a glass person, stained glass or similar..)
You might be able to see where the spring goes, or take good pictures ,from different angles and post.
This is one of those 'learn by doing it' moments.

Greensville Jay: Sounds like you've done a few of these. Can you tell me how the spring attaches to the needle shaft? There is a slot in the collar on the needle shaft but there doesn't appear any way to affix the spring end. I'm guessing that is there to create some tension to keep the collar tight on the shaft.

usually you 'prewind' the spring 2-3-? turns then slide spring into slot and it holds. similar to recoil starters on gas lawn mowers. the 'trick' is to get the correct number of turns.
it's one of those 'learn-by-doing' fun projects.
when reassembled ,you can use a drill with squared off nail to test.might have to go in reverse depending on how the unit works.
