Hey all. Just purchased a B2401 Gear driven. Not my first tractor but it is my first gear driven. Noticed today when I disengage the PTO on the bush hog, I hear a metal clicking sound as the bush hog winds down. Never heard this on my HST tractor w/ a separate PTO switch. Sound is not coming from the bush hog, it's coming from the tractor's PTO shaft area. Normal ??

Curious if that is the over running clutch as it winds down.

According to TractorData it has a built in over run clutch on the PTO. The over run clutches I have experience with sound like that when you shut down the PTO if running an implement that has inertia that takes a bit for the PTO to spin down. It’s kind of a ratchet clicking sound.

There was a post about two months ago with a new B2401 owner complaining about the exact same thing. Apparently, that particular model has an overrunning clutch that is pretty noticeable.......

100% normal.

What the one way clutch does is it keeps and implement (like a brush hog) from pushing a tractor along.
It's only required on a gear drive tractor.

With the tractor NOT running PTO engaged go to the PTO and turn the shaft backwards you'll hear the noise.
This is the cam you hear clunking!

Thank you all very much.

Looking forward to operating this little gear drive tractor. Something about the nostalgia of a gear tractor. It will be a bit of learning curve for me, such as the extra clutch and gear functions while doing any loader work.
