Hello folks,
New to the forum and need some advice. Just purchased a 2502. Wanting to use a grapple but need the 3rd function first. Summit lists a kit for the 2501/525 loader but won't confirm it will work on a 2502/526 loader. Anybody got any comments?

It’ll work. I put their MX4800 kit on my MX6000, and the B2650 kit on my LX2610.

Where in GA are you?

Not much to those kits and I cant imagine it wont work. The only issue might be hose fittings or brackets but I think the likely hood of that is remote and easily dealt wirh if you do encounter an issue.

For the cost of those kits you could pretty much buy a two spool valve AND a top link cylinder an have a 3rd function and a hydraulic top link. That's the direction I went on my 2502 and have zero regrets...

That certainly works and is very low cost. I currently have that setup on my L3901.

But its not optimal for either 3rd function or rear remotes and I do plan on installing an electric third function (either Summit's or roll my own) and moving the rear remote valves to the rear where plumbing is much neater/cheaper and control plscement is more ergonomic.

I am not advocating one way or the other. Just suggesting thats a judgement that each individual owner has to make for themselves.

So my valve is mounted on the fender right beside the 3 point

You're right, you lose the ability to operate the loader AND the grapple at the same time because I have to take my hand off of the loader valve to open/close the grapple. For me this hasn't been a real problem. But I have never experienced it the other way and may not know what I am missing out on.. But my setup works really well for me.

Now you got me started. I already have the electric valve (sans subplate) which I purchased several years ago as part of my "better than OEM" rear remotes project. That's been put on hold because of my health problems.

My plans for making the 3rd function part of the underseat valve stack aren't looking good so I have been thinkg about an alternate location. i really do not like the Landpride and Summit placement on the loader tower. The OEM kits fof the B and Grand L series put it under the floor boards adjacent to the hydraulic outlet block which I like a lot better.

I just checked and I can buy the complete Landpride joystick handle with harness for $140 and a subplate for the valve for another $30. Those parts and a little creative plumbing might be within my (limited) physical abilities.

Hmmmmmm......

Tangentially related, but I'm interested in the idea of adding a fourth rear remote operated by the 3rd function buttons so that I can run four hydraulic circuits out back on the M6060. I don't use the FEL much with that tractor (it's off the tractor all summer) so the 3rd function is rarely used.

Ignorance is bliss but I can't imagine that it's much of a challenge to accomplish this in an elegant manner. It'll most likely be a spring project so I have plenty of time to figure it out.

Put a rear valve on the tractor and a selector switch on the joystick wiring. Loader off or on really wont matter.

I installed that kit on my 2501 and it was a pretty straightforward installation. There are a couple YouTube videos covering installation on a 2501, maybe compare it against your 2502 so there are no surprises..

Thanks. That sounds like a good setup.
