Sigma 150-600mm. I've always wanted a Canon EF 600 but just can't justify it with my limited talent, plus the Minster of Finance would beat me silly.
Good shots! No substitution for length when shooting birds. I picked up a used 400 f2.8 years ago. Even tho its a heavy bugger for me now I keep it for those times I want to shoot some flying buddies. I have to put a 2X or at least 1.4X on it and shoot on a tripod.

That 400 f2.8 is a great lens as well. Have you tried a monopod instead of a tripod?

I did shoot it with a monopod years ago when I shot high school football. Never could get comfy with that setup even after many hours of trying. Ended up using a Wimberley, even for shooting air shows.

The Tamarack's have turned & winter is coming! We had a dusting of snow last week that I saw on my cameras when I was over in Illinois where it was in the low 80s! There's already snow at 6,000 ft elevation (see photos) and it won't be long before we get some significant snow fall. Time to get the MX in its winter configuration.

This was yesterday from my house.

This is the view today ... a lot more ominous.

I actually shot something yesterday about 4pm.
A 167 lb 8 point buck. My biggest I've ever shot.
I had sit in my buck hut for a while. A sock with Tinks doe urine flopping in the breeze. From the left the land slopes up to my shooting lane. I saw the Antlers moving up thru the brush. He got to the top of the slope. Let out a giant snort, whirled around and bolted back down thru the brush. I thought well. I at least saw him. Two minutes later. Here he comes back. Again doesn't top the slope into my shooting lane. But slowly turned sideways. I made the shot.

Nice frost last night and some crunchy leaves this morning. Not much water up here today and most leaves are down except the few remaining oak leaves. The hemlocks add a little color though as the sun comes up.

Unbelievable: Logging trail over a mile of steep down grade full of boulders, loose rock, laterals and what do I get on the game camera?

Over 50 turkeys visting in the last couple days. Always good to have door dash, uber eats, grub hub and favor roaming around in case I need a good meal.

This is a very remote, off grid area. The trail runs through private land via easements to owners further back. I have no idea who that guy on the scooter is - probably someone's guest. What's even more unusual is he doesn't have a rifle strapped over his shoulder ;)
