Issues with a Jacobsen HR 5111 Mower that has a Kubota engine

Hi,
I have a Jacobsen HR 5111 mower that has a V2203-B Kubota engine. The problem is that the mower does not charge properly with the volts varying from discharge to some charge (8 volts, etc) The mower will run when the battery is fully charged until it runs down. I have replace the alternator, battery, start switch to no avail. If I remove the negative post on the running engine the alternator charges a constant 13.5 + volts. Any ideas on what could be wrong would be greatly appreciated. Very frustrating problem.

Your more than likely not getting the excite signal to the alternator.

Clean the ground strap connection on the engine or chassis.

Hi I forgot to mention that I installed a new ground cable from the engine block to the battery as well. I cleaned the strap connectors as well. Thanks
