I am working on my friends KX91-3 super series2
from what I understand it sat in a barn for a few months. It had a dead battery. Battery replaced, started put on trailer dropped at my house.
Owner states AI does not work and he replaced the module (throttle knob). Also the thumb switch for the grapple does not work.
Upon initial inspection machine starts, runs thumb grapple does not work. AI does not work. Error codes Governor, Accel and high voltage.
I opened up the machine and found a lot of dead mice, nest and wreaks of mouse piss! washed most of it out best i could.
Took joystick apart found chewed wires on the thumb switch, repaired them.
I have opened most of the wiring harnesses and inspected.
I opened and inspected the computer circuit board, appeared clean, nothing burned and no trace of mouse stuff.
I removed the grounds near the battery that are attached to the frame, no corrosion or issue but I cleaned them and sanded the frame and attached.
The fuel gauge and temp gauge not reading. Temp gauge will read high on the computer screen when I jumper the plug at the sensor. I have resistance on the temp sensor, it is not open nor a dead short. I also have checked the wires for continuity and dead short with a power probe.
I have done the same with the governor sensor, pulled sensor and it appears to be working, tested with multimeter and get varying resistance. tested wiring also.
I have both the old and the new AI control knob module both test like they are working.
Engine speed (RPM) sensor working and reads proper RPM on the screen when I manually throttle up machine.
All fuses test good.
When I apply voltage to the AI motor it operates.
When the machine is on I get 12 volts on the plug going to the AI motor.
The sensor/switch on the hydraulic manifold inspected/tested fine.
I am going to chase the grounds that run from the front of the frame under the seat into the main harness today, open that all up and see what I can find. Other than that I am at a complete loss of what to do!
Any guidance or help is greatly welcome. The 3 local Kubota dealers have been ZERO help. I called Kubota and they said they dont have a tech line for machine owners, go through your local dealer.
Also I tried to order just a thumb switch and they said they cant find a part#...argh!!!
Also I soldered quite a few "crimp" connections in the wiring harness, not sure why the factory did it that way but it for sure appears it could be a failure point.
I clear the codes and start the machine back up and codes come back and the AI does not work.
Thanks for reading through my rant!
