So we have had our new LX3310 for about 6 weeks and been doing lots and lots of work with it. Finally got curious and opened the hood to see how dusty it was getting underneath and there at the top of the engine between the air filter cylinder and the emissions cylinder is a threaded hole (1" in width approx) that is wide open with no cap. Clearly it was meant to have a cap or something. But it's not where the engine oil goes in (that's a much lower cap down on right side) and not where the hydraulic/transmission fluid goes (that goes down behind the seat) and I cannot for the life of me find any mention of it in the manual/maintenance info or youtube videos. Anyone know? Plus I need to get a cap for it now. Definitely spraying/spilling oil out of it slightly as engine runs as it's now getting rather messy in the area around it.

Well that is an oil cap and yes it's missing!
I would be doing a full oil and filter change.
You will need the plug and the O-Ring!

If you bought it new from a dealer 6 weeks ago, I would be talking to the dealer about it.

So there are two optional places to fill the oil from? Because there is another oil fill opening (with a cap that says "oil" on it) lower down on the right side near the dip stick. I just had not seen that before and not even sure why there would be two places. Anyways, on our way to the dealer to get a replacement for the top one.

Yes, 2 locations to pour oil in, the top one is just plain hard to reach (for me).

Yes, and also because Kubota sells their engines to a variety of different people for powering other equipment it gives multiple ways to fill.

Like others said, I'd be making a phone call to the selling dealer and having them change my oil, make a note in the equipment record and clean up my machine.
