Today I bought a new weight box from a local tractor dealer. The box has no manufacturer's name, however, it has a Made In USA label. All of the welds look very good and for $200 plus tax ($12), I think that it is a good buy. I am thinking of adding a trailer hitch receiver to the bottom of the box, or possibly cutting it into the rear and welding it in place. The only other thing that I would like to add to it is a cover that can be bolted to the edge to keep my ballast inside the box. There were only 2 on the lot, and the other one had the top edge rolled into the center, unlike this one where they go to the outside. That one was a little narrower and didn't have the pull tab welded to the rear of the box. I originally thought it was powder coat on the box, until I saw a run in the paint. Overall, the fit and finish is very good for an inexpensive weight box.

That looks pretty decent for the price. A combo carry-all/ballast box. You could even fashion it to be dump box, with some fabbing and a hydro cylinder.

This box is only for holding my stash of 1 1/4# lead ingots. I have about 600 of them in my old Kubota weight box that is going to go into this box for my ballast for winter plowing. My reason for purchasing this box is that it it already Quick Hitch compatible, something that my present weight box isn't. I intend to cut up my old weight box to make it Quick Hitch compatible by cutting the sides and making it into a rectangle. That will become the weight box for my tools and chains.
