I've had four 3rd functions installed by the local dealer over the past 8 years. These prices (installed) might be interesting to some along with the year of the installation. Both of the MX tractors were ordered and the 3rd function included on those orders so I'm not sure why the cab version was cheaper.

The BX option was by far the cheapest but that was back in 2016. Prices seem to be all over the place at times, but adding the feature as part of a new order does seem to be cheaper than having it installed after the fact. I bought the M6060 off the dealer's lot in Sheridan, WY but had the 3rd function installed at the local dealer.

2016 BX25 $696
2021 MX6000 open station $1,300
2021 MX6000 cab $1,200
2022 M6060 cab $1,700

If you look at Kubota's website and use the "Build My Kubota" feature for a B2301 you'll see that the 3rd function if ordered with the tractor is $1,003.

I just had installed on my new to me B2601 the Land Pride 3rd function kit, installed and a new Land Pride SGC 0554 54” grapple ran me $3300.

To be honest I don’t know if I paid too much, too little or fair market.

is a grapple the only use for a third function?

With today's prices that $3,300 doesn't seem excessive.

I use the 3rd function for a grapple, hydraulic angle snow blade and post hole digger.

Could save half and do it yourself if you're even just mildly mechanically inclined. I used a summit 3rd function on my B2650, simple straight forward install. Most of their directions are copy and pasted from the land pride install instruction...

I do like the factory appearance of the 3rd function kits that come from Kubota with protective covering the entire length, factory clamps and mounting plates, as well as the loader knob/switch. I really don't like the Summit loader knob/switch at all.

If the kit is installed by the dealer you're paying for the labor of course, but not so much if you order it with the tractor. For me it's a no brainer to pay $300 more to have a nicer kit installed by Kubota with a new tractor order rather than a Summit DIY, but I can see how that equation changes if a kit is installed after delivery.
