Hi all

I just bought an older Kubota B7100 with gear drive transmission and 4wd. The tractor has some known transmission issues and lots of other issues but it is my intent to get everything fixed.

1. I got the tractor split and need to separate the tranny from the rear end. I removed the two inner bolts and all the outer nuts, it doesn't want to separate. Is there something that I am missing?

2. Are there any members in Oregon that sell parts?

3. The hydraulic fluid had water in it, is there a good way to flush the system?

4.The tractor did not come with a ROPS and this tractor will be used on a hill so I want to update with a ROPS and seatbelt.
Will a ROPS from a newer hydrostatic model work?

5. Does anyone know which aftermarket paint will be closest to original colors?

Thanks!

There should be 9 external nuts and one internal nut and one internal bolt.

Flush the Hydraulic system with cheap hydraulic fluid, also clean the screen.

Yes an B7100 HST ROPS will work.

Try @Mountainman for parts.

We love our ZB7001/B7100 it's a great little machine. This video by Marty T may help you as he does a rebuild on his B7100 gearbox.

When You say flush the system, do you mean fill the system and then change the oil or is there a flushing procedure?

I was able to pull the case apart by welding 2 nuts together to make an adapter to use my slide hammer. It actauly worked pretty well.

I reached out to mountain man but shipping across the country for a Rops is not cost effective.

The serial number for the machine is B7001 18413 and the guy at the local salvage yard said that this was a grey market machine. He said you can tell the grey market machines because they have a coupling on the pto shaft and not a ratcheting mechanism. When I got it apart, it did indeed have a coupling.

I don't have anything to offer regarding your project.
I'm just glad you have a nice shop with a concrete floor.
The tractor looks fantastic!

You will "figure it out" based on another thread I am following. :)

You DO NOT have a grey.
Very early production B7100's (which yours is) did not have a one way clutch, and some of the B7100's had clutch housings marked b7001.

You have the part in Blue, the one way clutch replaced that in yellow.
You can change yours over (you would be very smart to do that) !

What is a one way clutch?
It allows the PTO implement (like a shredder) to continue to spin but not turn the shaft inside the transmission and thus drive the tractor gearing (moving the tractor).

Here is a video that explains how they work. It shows an external (add on) device that is used when there is NOT an internal one

That makes sense. Thanks!

A Few Additional Questions on clutch and rear main seal:

I didn't drive this tractor much before I split the tractor because it had transmission issues and was making alot of noise. I was already splitting the tractor to work on the transmission and the rear main seal appeared to be leaking so I went ahead and pulled the bell housing as well as the clutch and flywheel. The Pilot bearing seems to be worn and have some sideplay. Any advice on removal and replacement? Is there a simple check I can do to determine the condition of the clutch? The throwout bearing seems to be in good shape. Anything else I should look for or check while we have this tractor apart? Is it recommended to use some kind of RVT on the gaskets when putting everything back together?

The WSM shows how to measure clutch wear.

Any good RTV to seal the clutch housing will work.
