I am in the process of purchasing a new B2601 and should take delivery Monday. While looking over the tractor I noticed the bucket on the LA435 did not have a cutting edge on it. When I ask about it they said it was extra. What the heck is going on. Selling a bucket without a cutting edge is like selling a mower without blades. I know it’s a minimal cost but it really made me think about reconsidering the comparable Massey. When looking at the bucket it looks like it’s not complete. Anyone else had this experience? Makes no sense to me. Thanks

An optional bolt on cutting edge is offered, I got one when I ordered mine. I would probably order a Piranha type of edge if I did it again.

The edge is there just not one like you might be thinking of, it is a flat factory edge and it works well enough for most things. Since you really dont have to worry about much snow, and the ground is probably pretty sandy you will be fine,, Now if you want a more toothy bucket edge, the Piranha blade, not cheap, but if you want one that is the way to go, top shelf! I dont know how much time you have with a tractor with a FEL, so all I will say is take your time think things through, it through again, and go slowly, remember its a small tractor not a 988. And welcome to the orange, ask questions make comments, and add your knowledge to the collective,,, OH and pictures,, we love our tractor porn ;)

I bought the Piranha bar for my B2601 bucket, well worth the money and easily removed when it may not be needed. Mine has not been removed since installed.

The bucket as it comes is plenty stout without having to buy another edge as Skeets said. I put a Piranha bar on mine. Works great. You will love the B2601. A fabulous machine.

Mine just has the factory edge. Never had an issue. No sign at all that it'd wear out before I do.

Maybe I should have been more specific. He bucket has open bolt holes across the front. I’ve worked in the road and bridge construction go or years and also have had several other tractors with FELs and have never seen one without the bolt on edge installed. Don’t want y’all to think I’m fussing about it but the cutting edge is an extremely important part of the bucket and I just don’t understand why it became an option. Thanks for letting me join the group.
BTW, I bought this machine with the MMM and will be utilizing it to mow grass for most of the time.

Most small tractors don’t even have the bolt holes in the bucket. The weld on cutting edge is all that they have. Bolt on cutting edge is an option. Many moons ago, even construction equipment only had weld on cutting edges.

As others mentioned, I went with the BxPanded Piranha Tooth bar and have been pleased with it.

Hasn’t come off the tractor in years, but it’s easy to do if needed.

My B2601 is also used primarily for property mowing.

A little over a year old with 68 hours and not one problem.

It's a keeper.

Just tell the dealer that you want them to throw in a cutting edge as part of the deal. It’s a small cost item and they will likely do that.

It took me 4 winters to grind down the ends of the factory edge on my BX23S bucket. I have the 'heavy duty' one sitting on the shelf, will install once ,ugh, 'white' appears.
I made my own toothed bar from scrap and it's great chewing up sod, dirt, mulch, etc. NOT 'store bought pretty', but it's works GREAT for me !

Kubota considers the welded on piece a cutting edge and many buckets with undrilled edges require cutting and welding on the replacement. My dealer ordered one for me but got the weld-on part. I looked closer and my bolt-on was reversible, so I just turned it around.

I agree with you, if it's drilled it should have the bolt-on edge. If this is your bucket, the edge is ~$160. Don't forget to order bolts.

This one doesn’t even have a weld on edge. The bottom of the bucket is it.

All Kubota buckets have some sort of welded on cutting edge, so if yours doesn’t have one then I would be talking to your dealer about it.
