I would chain it not strap. 4 points, two in front on the frame and 2 in back to something strong. Drive mellow and think about the load.

I got that covered! Chain through a D ring in the draw bar. Two 4k straps around the front axle. Bucket strapped. 3 point strapped. Famous last words.... "that ain't going nowhere"!

This is probably the smallest load I've hauled in the last 10 years, and I don't drive like a buffoon in any vehicle. It's not fun after going 170 on a track.

I know you gotta have tougne weight, which you have. If driven on the rears would be right over the axle. Would that have distributed the weight slightly better or have you tried towing driving it on.
I have a 6x12 I tow my ranger on.
I've towed backing on and driving on.
One way tows way better.

The only reason I didn't pull in nose first is the bucket would have really limited my turning radius. I didn't want it to contact my tailgate. Nose first definitely would have distributed the weight better.

I don't haul much.
I'd love a F550 just to drive to get coffee in...lol

Before retiring I built a shed for the 4240 and the company had several piles of asphalt millings that I used for a base. I hauled 6 or 7 loads on a borrowed company dump trailer and 3/4 ton pickup. The trailer battery was a little weak so I violated the rule of not having sufficient tongue weight thinking it would be easier to dump.

My flawed thought process was that the borrowed pickup was much more stable than the company Tahoe I had at the time. Also I used slower secondary roads bringing the loads home and 4-lane for most of the empty trips. One particularly tailgate-heavy load at around 50 MPH started me into a death wobble that I almost didn't recover from. Real eye opener.
