Just curious which do you prefer for winter storage - adding stabilizer to the gas and allowing the treated fuel to run thru or running the engine dry? I've always run my mowers dry in the past but just wondering if anyone has had issues either way? Also, why does the manual recommend adding a tbsp of engine oil to each spark plug hole?

Are you using ethanal fuel or NON ethanol ? ( hopefully the latter)

As for the oil - nothing wrong with that - pull plug, drop in oil spin it good fashion - replace plug

Adding oil to the cylinders helps to reduce the risk of stuck rings (rings sticking to the cylinder wall or in the piston), rust on the cylinder walls (if you rotate the engine slowly for a couple of turns.

For the last couple decades, i fill the tank with E0 gas + stabilizer and run it for a couple 5 minutes. I leave the tank and carb/ FI full of fuel. I use fogging oil instead of motor oil in the cylinders. 2 stroke oil in a pinch.
Stabil Fogging Oil

Just some StarTron or Seafoam (Stabil in the old days) in the full tank. NEVER had any starting or running issue in my whole life and I’m 75 this year.
Don’t overthink it! Run the motor after adding the additive, of course!

Sell the old one and buy a new one in the spring. It will come with a few ounces of fresh gasoline in the tank.

Kub CDA offers BOTH gas and diesel engines....

Also for winter storage, I suggest getting tires off the ground and adding 2-5 PSI.

I've seen far too many tires with GREAT tread and sidewalls cracked
