Dan deserves a special kudo for not dumping on me for confusing open and closed hydraulic systems.
Hydtauluc systems confuse a lot of people and there is no shame in that. You had no problem getting your head around some fairly arcane subtelties in rhe Kubota system which speaks highly of your intellect.

Personally I had a fun time working out a knotty one. The loader symptoms were classic but backhoe functioning had me scratching my head. It was actually screaming out the answer but I was slow to see it. Light came on as I was enroute to the doctor.....

Now go enjoy your time with the grand daughter!!

You guys are too kind. I have had the good fortune to have worked with some very smart people over the last 60 odd years - way smarter than me. They helped me many times when I was at wits end and I am just paying it forward. Its not totally philanthropic - I love applying logic to complex problems.. Its what I did for a living and as much a part of me as breathing. Drives my wife of 50 years crazy....

All is good. Granddaughter learned how to drive it, remove the bucket, put on forks then put everything back by herself. Now I have to buy more kitty litter for the tractor garage floor. Thanks again and thanks to Orange Tractor Forum!

BTW, granddaughter just explained your logo. Graduate of Va Tech? IIRC, that was where VW was caught off base with their pollution controls.

Dan - I don’t think it’s possible to be too kind. There’s a few gems here on OTT and you’re definitely one of them.

I was routing for you and Allen from the start of this journey. Glad it came to a great conclusion!

Don’t know of others, but I see you help people through these issues every day.

Class of 73. This is a Hokie family - my wife, my son, my brother, his wife, his daughter, my wifes two brothers, and a substantial chunk of my bank account

Another VT notable is my best friend from that time - one of the guys that designed and wrote Windows NT.

Not surprised you come out of a smart crowd because you fit in a smart crowd. Glad you are part of the Orange Tractor Crowd. I'm new but I see how much you are appreciated.

Now tell me if 30 pound-feet torque is OK for quick connects to the FEL valve because that's what I set them to.

I must confess I dont know what sort of port that is. Assuming its an SAE-08 oring boss the recommended torque (lubricated threads) is ~35-45 lb-ft.

Personally I am old school and use the GuttenTite method and back off a bit in aluminum ports.

For those curious like I was about what a Hokie is… (Compliments of ChatGPT, I assume close to correct.)

"Hokie" is the nickname for Virginia Tech, officially known as Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

The term “Hokie” was derived from the Old Hokie cheer, which was written by O.M. Stull in 1896 as part of a contest to create a new spirit yell for Virginia Tech. The cheer includes the line “Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hy,” and the term “Hokie” has since become a nickname for Virginia Tech’s athletic teams and a general term for anything associated with the university.

The words of the Old Hokie cheer, written by O.M. Stull, are as follows:

Hokie, Hokie, Hokie, Hy,
Tech, Tech, V.P.I.
Sola-Rex, Sola-Rah.
Polytechs - Vir-gin-i-a.
Rae, Ri, V.P.I.

VPI stands for Virginia Polytechnic Institute, which is the former name of Virginia Tech. The full name of the university used to be Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.

Founded as Virgina Agricultural and Mechanical College.

and Polytechnic Institute added later then shortened to Virginia Polytechnic Institute

Renamed Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1970 (my freshman/sophomore year)

VPI&SU is still the official name but Virginia Tech is officially recognized as an alternate by the administration.

Old thread I know, but as someone in the future will run across it, like I did just now, searching for a solution to a similar problem, thought I would add to it.
Just as AllenBC made mention of, (thank you!) which solved my little issue, my three point was in the FULL up position and it caused my loader bucket in my L3901 to be very slow.
I let it down and all seems to be ok, so similar problem as his backhoe stabilizer arm.
I too followed this thread big time.
BIG thanks to TheOldHokie!! Thanks for all you do here!
Dan helped me out massively with a clogged W.R. Long grapple valve, earlier this spring.
