Looks like he was traveling at a high rate of fuel consumption and maybe all pilled up with no place to go

They trashed all 46,000 pounds of beef, anyone with common sense can see that the trailer had little damage. In many areas, road kill deer is salvaged for human consumption.

My guess is that he fell asleep at the wheel or had passed out. Tractor kept going, and I have no idea if tractors have cruise control, but if it did, that kept the tractor at a constant speed. As an accident investigator I would have been looking for any braking prior to hitting the first object and definitely there should be some braking after the first hit.
A couple of years ago my wife passed out and the car went in a straight line where the road curved. Took out 2 large pine trees with the first one under the car and the second breaking off mid point and falling back on top of the car. She has no recollection of what happened, and there were no indication of her braking.

Most if not all trucking firms have live tracking of their trucks,LOTS of 'data' streaming to the 'office'. as well insurance companies toss an 'app' onto phones to do the same (and sell the info to anyone....)
As well airbag systems have a LOT of data stored in them too.
