Hi, I'm new to the site and am in desperate need of some help! I have a Kubota L4200 DT GST and I love the machine and it has been great until a couple of weeks ago. I went to start it and the dash lights came on but wouldn't start so I figured it was the battery even though it had ran two days prior. I charged the battery and tried to start it and still nothing. The third or fourth time I turned the key the Dash lights went out also. I cleaned the ground, checked all the fuses and still nothing. I was told it was the switch so I ordered one and replaced it and still nothing. I have 12 volts coming to the main pole on the switch but no power goes elsewhere. I can pull the plug from the starter relay and jump the wires and it starts right up but I have no instruments and I'm leary about running with no temp gage. Is there any way it could be the relay itself or could it be a dreaded bad wire? How's that for being extremely long winded with an opening post? Sorry but I really need my tractor as I'm getting ready to start building a house and I really can't afford a dealership trip so any help would be a blessing and greatly appreciated! Have you gone thru and checked all the safety switches. If you can jump across the wires and start it you obviously have power. All it would take is one safety switch not working or be out of adjustment and you're shut down. I had trouble with my L3000 and the hi/lo range shifter switch.
If I understand you correctly, you bypassed the relay and the tractor started up? Sounds like you identified the problem. I've had starter relays stuck on other vehicles, with exactly the same symptoms. Had to replace one relay, but the other couple of times I tapped them (GENTLY) with a hammer and they un-stuck and worked just fine. The contacts get pitted over time, and they will eventually malfunction.
I didn't think that the safety switches would cut the dash panel off. The alternator is fine, the battery never was dead. Will the starter relay keep the dash panel from working? Is there a way I can check the relay before I buy one cause they are kinda proud of them? Thanks for all the help so far!

OrangeUgly44, did the starter relay fix your L4200? I'm asking because mine is doing the same thing. Starts one time, but then the next time it only clicks and then the next time nothing, not even the dash lights come one. I'm thinking it's the starter relay too, but I was hoping to find someone else who had this problem and found that the starter relay fixed it, before I spring $65 or more for the relay.

Have all the symptoms mentioned above so I put in the john deere relay kit. Issue is still there. Turn key, get a click or a very slow crank and that's it. Also checked pos and neg cables, new bat.
Thinking this must be an issue with the starter selenoid. Any thoughts?
Not sure how to pin point without tearing starter out.

Click and slow crank would most likely be low battery/poor cable connections, or worn brushes/crook starter. (This is if no other mechanical issues like hydraulically locked engine etc) Start with fully charging battery, removing and cleaning all connections, DONT put corrosion inhibitor on connections before bolting them down. If you have a WSM shoot me the wiring diagram for diagnosis.
