This arrived in my in-box from the Canadian version of Harbor Fright, only 9 large (Canuk bucks): https://www.princessauto.com/en/420cc-crawler-excavator/product/PA0009208604

15hp chinesium gas engine, 8" bucket, 4-1/2' maximum depth. From the manual:

"NEVER use the crawler excavator for any purposes other than trenching. The crawler excavator is designed for
trenching. Using the crawler excavator for any other purpose can result in serious injury or death and may void the
warranty."

Makes my 6-1/2' Kubota backhoe look positively industrial. I feel better now.

Couple local auction companies have been selling something similar lately.

Have one or two new ones at each sale.

Haven't been around to see any of them sell.

This video will show some prices and has a bit of information. Looks like under $5000 is a common price.

Andrew Camarata bought a new one for $4,000 USD (Jan. 10th) , and demos it on his website.
He is satisfied with it....for what it is.
Check out his website for more info.

Well he certainly didn't read the part about "trenching only"! <lol>

Mind you, his came with a thumb. The PA verson only seems to have a mount for a thumb. The PA version also comes with the aux hydraulic connections, which really sends a mixed message about the limitations on use!

You can get other buckets and a thumb for it from PA. Have the link to the distis website.

'theoretical' is there as a 'disclaimer'. Actual HP can be measured but it's based on gas, engine condition, temperature, carb settings,RPM, and much much more so few decades ago 'they' went to displacement value. Something pretty solid. BTW,212 cc is about 9HP. Take cc/30 to get HP+-,more or less.

If I owned the 14 acres where I get to play, I'd buy one. Be GREAT at clearing out the MC trails as BX23S is too long. Also be faster and easier at clearing out the brambles and 'vegetation' along the southern property line.

The manual on PA's website indicates there are certain accessories available, but they are not listed under either "Accessories" or "Parts" tabs on the webpage.

Looking closely at that video and comparing to the PA listing, they are not the same machines. PA version is missing the side teeth on the bucket, has different mount for the thumb and controls are different. Probably other differences too.

China is a country with many "backyard" producers, of very similar items.

The same as Canada,eh ! Around me, at last count, there are 14 'trailer' manufacturers !

same for the trailers too !
I love the 3500# axle in them yet tag says 2990#.....
In Pennsylvania a trailer over 3,000 lbs is required to have brakes, perhaps that is the reason for the reduced rating.

I actually hate the 3,500 lb axles since they have virtually no shoulder on the spindle to locate the inner bearing race.
