I have a L3830 GST. To start the tractor the shuttle shift lever must be in the neutral position. As of late, I am encountering difficulty actually achieving the neutral setting and it requires significant jiggling to find neutral and thus get the tractor to start. Does anyone have similar issues and what might be the problem. Thank you.

Safety switch may need some adjustment. Most of them have no room for error. I would track down the switch location and check it.

You always find the best pics Wolfman.

That looks a lot like the switch that's on the high/low shifter on my L3000. It was giving me trouble and the tab, arm, finger (don't really know what to call it) was loose and the shifter had to be moved to the right spot before it would crank. Small adjustment and tighten the screw back down, it worked fine.

Of course what do I know. Been welding all afternoon and the fumes may have clouded my brain.

Wolfman, that's exactly what I was talking about. I agree with your first statement though, it doesn't really have adjustment. Finding mine loose probably isn't the norm.

My thanks to all of you who responded. I dismantled the protective covers and cleaned all connections and lubed those which appeared to be in need. I also disconnected the main switch and cleaned both male and female leads. It seemed to solve the problem, the tractor works fine now. Again, my thanks.

Hello Wolfman,
I have a Kubota L3010 gst. My issue is forward/reverse shuttle shifts. The reverse sometimes engages, but I have to wiggle it so many times back and forth, then it will work. It seems like the fork internally is loose or worn down.
Can it be inspected through the valve assembly cover?
Thank you,B

Yes you'll see it if you pull the valve body.
Normally when they won't go into gear it's the syncros being worn is the issue, and sadly you won't be able to see the wear with it assembled.

Are you implying since I cannot see the worn syncros, I have to split the tractor? I really appreciate your input. It will be a big job.
