Fremont, Ca, Austin,Tx along with Nevada for the Semi, Berlin, Germany and Shanghai, China, and Buffalo, NY for batteries only. Mexico will probably be next and then India. As a long time shareholder I follow this stuff.
A grandson, from Georgia Tech, is doing his final mechanical engineering coop semester, at the Tesla Lathrop, CA. battery plant.

I'm wondering if the one Marketplace TRIED to driver from Pickering to Ottawa on a FULL charge was a Made-in-China one ? You could easily tell the girl reporter was 'upset' !!

Tesla is far from perfect but even with its problems it's still the category killer. In time, this relatively new technology will have the bugs worked out ( battery issues and full self driving mainly) and will continue to dominate their market segment.

There shouldn't be ANY 'bugs' !!! Between computer 'simulations' and AI, each and every car off the assembly line should be 100% perfect.

Of course...just like all things coming off an assembly line. No problems...no recalls...totally perfect. Maybe in your world but not mine!

Once all the auto makers are producing EVs then Tesla is just another toaster maker trying to make high volume production to earn their 5% margins. Tesla valuations are purely a speculative play and a business model based on gambling at the casino isn't in it for the long haul.

EVs are not ready for prime time. Hybrids are viable now and are the immediate future.

EVs have their place. That place (in my opinion) is as a second or third car, used for commuting to work every day. They're very good at that. Driving long distances, not so much. Towing things, not so much.

Hybrids have their place. They're good in stop/start traffic. Although a small diesel gets similar economy without as many moving parts, without as much weight, and without batteries to wear out. If you drive at constant speed a lot (I do), a hybrid is just heavier than an equivalent non-hybrid without getting materially better fuel economy.

Internal combustion engines have their place. They're good in any situation where you need your fuel stops to be about 5-10 minutes, they're good for towing, they're good if you are worried about depreciation or long-term values. To my mind, they're good as your "travel car". Unfortunately in our household both our cars are "travel cars" and one of them is the "towing car" and therefore both need to be internal combustion.

I expect that over time EVs will get better, as will charging. That will make a difference. I also expect biofuels to become possible, whether it be methane (natural gas) made from excess solar or nuclear power, or maybe plant-based (although I think plants are food, and we're a little tight to feed the world, not sure I'd recommend burning plants instead of feeding people with them). That will mean internal combustion engines will live on longer without greenies being so upset.

If/when EVs are better and cheaper for the particular use someone has, they'll buy them. And some people will buy them just so they can feel green - and that's fine too.

Can you even buy small diesel cars in North America anymore?

I'm pretty weary about DEF/DPF and the modern electronics required to keep the new diesels running. I still see far too many new commercial trucks stuck on the side of the road in limp mode waiting for a service tech to stop buy with a laptop to clear a code for $500.

My experience with the hybrid Toyotas is reliability and my cars get the same fuel economy as my motorcycle.

I'm not in North America though. My partner has a VW Touareg 4.0 V8 Turbo Diesel. Pulls like a train. No DEF, just feed it diesel and it goes. Plenty of small diesels here as well, 2.0 turbo diesel in small VW and Audi, amongst others. I think we get a 1.6 in a VW Polo, if anyone wanted to drive a car that small. There's a fast diesel in the golf, I think worth about 7s for the sprint to 60mph. OK, not that fast, but not slow either.

The Touareg has just on 200,000kms on it, so I guess 120,000 miles. It's a 2015, so 9 years old. No real sign of issues.

The one thing that you don't have is the EPA. The ultimate killer of any vehicle that offers high mileage and lost fuel costs. Their ultimate goal is to keep the fuel tax money flowing into Washington DC.

Tesla...unlike the legacy automakers is not just a car maker. The legacies by the way wish they made 5%. Every EV they sell is at a loss. If it weren't for ICE cars they would long be bankrupt. Some are cutting back, some dropping out altogether or not making EV's at all. Tesla's margins have been between 19% and 23%, numbers which are unheard of in the industry. Economy of scale, the Giga Press and many other production efficiencies make that possible. Legacies wish they made that across the board. Just a large, long term investor who watches the company almost daily, but what do I know???

I wonder what parts it was? I’ve never expected to get a “made in USA” part for my Japanese tractor that says “assembled in USA”…I would probably be suspicious if it was made in USA 🤣
LOADERS and buckets are made in the US, at least for la526 loaders. call me a bad American, but I would have rather had them made in Japan as well, the welds on the bucket sides and top corners should not have passed QC.

Loader frame for my BX23S failed due to bad weld(rather obvious),though Kubota said 'out of waranty', 5 years/1100 hrs, they did 'top up' my account !

My neighbor also re-did the welds on my bucket, it’s good to have great neighbors!
