Ever since I put a new clutch in my G4200 it always grinds from neutral to any gear and reverse. When it warms up the grinding stops. I don't understand why, and theres not much adjustment other than the rod to the pedal. Am I missing something?

Thinking backwards, no lube or wrong lube, or just barely out of adjustment. Sorry nothing more direct, been a little bit since the last time I touched the cluch on mine.

Not the clutch faces themselves. The springs and plate might be about it. Could be binding in one.

This is a common issue with replacement parts.
Kubota's tolerances on the clutch are really tight.
So if the clutch disk, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, or flywheel are slightly off everything is out of sync.

Did you replace all components?
Pilot bushing, throw-out bearing, pressure plate, clutch disk?
Did you surface the flywheel?

Any way to put the friction pads and plates in the wrong place/order?
Changing gears with the RPMs too high?
Changing gears before the tractor stops moving?
Maybe the pads are not completely disengaging when cold because some of those internal parts can be lubed or coated with a preservation oil that is sticky, incorrectly misaligned to not be absolutely matched up?
Get brake cleaner and really hose down everything but the bearings and seals. Do it with the cluch pedal down. The check alignment again. Something is sticking.

ok just to be sure what we were dealing with, I looked up the parts, and low and behold that's not a normal clutch, you should have mentioned that.

You're going to need to get the WSM (aka service manual) on how to set the clutch.

Yes, a few more places to bind and stick. Preservation lube is sticky and must be cleaned off everything if you find some. Springs, guild thingys, caps can all take a very light oil sometimes. Not too much cause it can stick.

Well, I checked my copy of the WSM and like everyone else it does not include the manual gear transmission information.
Any luck yet?
