Thanks to Hagrid in another thread...I wonder why a grapple is not a gripple?

Gripple seems more descriptive and intuitively correct...

Gripper maybe even more so...

For example, a similar device for an excavator is called a thumb.

Seems like gripple would be appropriate in either case...

Perhaps I just need to get gripple on reality. Shame on you Hagrid for causing me this distress!

Oh Henro, my life has been too complicated lately and now I have to gripple with that question. Or grapple with it?

Never mind. I'm hungry and I'm going to eat eggs, home fries and scrapple. Or is it scripple? You have me all befused and confuddled.

Only reason I call it a grapple is because when I say I have a grapple people know I have a swell attachment for my FEL.

If I say I have a gripple they back up a couple feet and put me on the prayer list under the “sick” category at church.

Gripple is a tool to tighten, and keep tightened, fence wire. Makes nice tight wires.

Thanks!

For the same reason Hagrid points out the BX is a lawnmower, not suited for either a gripple or a grapple. Opinions may vary.

Gripples are the best fence building and repair tool I have ever used!

I guess i get the explanations.

But then shouldn’t a grapple really be a graball?

and a Gripple really be a gripall?

So i guess a grapple should not be a gripple as Hagrid referred to it, but indeed a graball.

And a gripple should be a gripall

Glad i asked. The world is a better place now. (y)
