Lets not make this about a political debate. Just want to share how I feel physically, nothing else. I started to feel like I was getting a cold last wendesday (for reference today is Monday), and on Thursday I felt sort of OK but knew that I was getting sick. On Friday I felt like I was getting run over by a bus and called my Dr. in the morning, and he got back to me later that day. We discussed it and I told him this was the second time for Covid (I tested on Thursday night) and he said as long as I felt that the symptoms were not too bad to just weather the course of the disease, and if it got bad over the weekend to give him a call and he would prescribe some medicine. On Frida;y I had to install the weight box on the Bota, and it went well without and problems even though I was kind of achey and not thinking clearly. I set the pin locks down, and then I couldn't find them, but that is an old age thing. Saturday I awoke to a drievawy full of snow, and I had to clear it, since it waasn't going to go away on its own. No one else around to operate the Kabota so I did it myself. Took me about 3 hours to get it cleared up and I came in and went to sleep. Diromg the time I was sleeping we got another 2" or so, so I had to go out and clean that up, and that took me a couple of hours. Then it came time to switch out the snowblower for the plow blade and scrape it down to bare pavement so it didn't freeze overnight. I had a hell of a time getting the blower off. Mirst I forgot to put the stand downat the back of the blower, and I was fighting with the quick disconnects not machine up the slot with the dot on the female ends. Finally ot the blower off the K connect, or so I thought. Nope, I forgot to release the engagement bar. Now I realized that I wasn't thinking clearly and I shouldn't be doing this, but I was too far into it to abandon the snowblower removal. I eventually got it to disconnect, but it was a struggle. Rolled the plow in front of the K connect and lifted it into place, and hooked up the hoses and started to move forward, only to watch the plow go sideways. I forgot to put the locks into the plow frame that hold it to the K connect. My mind was fried for sure. Good thing that the pow was easy to muscle around to get it badk onto the K connect. I was going to try to scrape the snow off the driveway when I realized that I was wondering all over the place. Put the Kubota back in the garage and come into the house to rest. Had dinner and went to sleep after wards. Woke up coughing and a really; bad headache. Took some Nyquel and went back to sleep, and now, here it is 3 AM and I am up trying to put my thoughts to paper, but I feel like a train rolled over me. A whole lot of words are underlined in red, which means that there are typing errors that I need to fix. I have been checking my blood pressure, and it is running higher than normal, coughing, runny nose, headache, it is horrible. I am not going to spell correct anything because this post is how I feel, not about anything else. I have to keep my eyes shut because the light is bothering me, and I can't smell anything. One of the questions that the Dr. asked, was did I have the vaccine. I have had 5 shots as each one came out. He told me that it should lessen the severity of the illness, but it doesn't prevent it. It is now 4 AM and I am coughing so much that I have awakened my wife who just came into the room to check on me. I am going to try to go to sleep now. Not only;y has it messed with me physically, but it is screwing with my mind. Just can't think clearly. I hope that by daybreak I will be felling better. Time will tell. Dusty

It's probably too late to be helpful this time, but get some Paxlovid to keep on hand for the next time. It's most effective when taken in the first few days so you really need to have it on hand vs. chasing after it and getting it past the optimum window.

Doing the physical work in cold weather is probably the main issue you have. Both times I had Covid it was mild and I kept working on stuff, but it was light work in warmer weather. Covid, Flu or regular cold, you need to rest and get plenty of food and fluids so you can fight the infection.

And yes, having the vax as well as prior infections should certainly help reduce the severity. All the published data shows that and it meshes with my own experience with my family and friends, some vax and some non-vax.

Hope you feel better soon, we've been lucky so far but probably just a matter of time before we all get it.

Hope it’s over and gone quickly. I had it last fall. Knocked me down for a couple of days but was gone with zero lingering effects after about a week. Some aren’t so fortunate.

That really stinks.
I hope your feeling better soon.
My hired man brought it to me in November, I passed it to my girlfriend.
We were exposed again at Christmas.
But one one came down with it again.
Covid is certainly back.
I had a customer come on Friday he told me on the phone Thursday he'd had covid for four days. I told him to wear a mask when he came. He was just going about his day not caring if he passed it on or not.
As far as the shots Dusty. I've had the first round two yrs ago or more.
Still got covid then. So I'm not sure the do anything. I did get a flu shot in Oct.
Rest if you can. That's the best way to fight covid.

Hope you're feeling better! I tested positive for covid last Wednesday. I came into work that day and was barely able to even make it through the day and found out that evening why I felt so bad. The last several days has been very hard on me and I could feel the damage the virus was doing to my body. Yesterday was the first day I was even able to get up from laying around. Thankfully, my sister immediately prescribed me some antibiotics and an inhaler as well as directing me to some OTC meds for the other symptoms I was having as well. It has been a very tough past few days but I'm finally on the mend and sitting in my office for the first time in days. Always a good feeling to get back to work when you have been off for a while!
This virus is very damaging to our bodies, especially our cardiovascular system, and this is the 4th time I have had it.

Get well soon.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be a direct correlation of how bad Covid affects you no matter how many times you've been exposed. So, don't assume it will be mild because you were vaccinated or have developed natural immunity. It seems almost anyone can have a bad case, almost any time.

I'm not a Dr if it isn't obvious, but I have had respiratory illnesses including Covid and pneumonia. If you've recovered well in the past, those methods should mostly work.

Ignore or use the following information. It's up to you and your Dr.

Standard methods for treating any respiratory illnesses/flu/pneumonia works on Covid, too. If you have an Albuterol prescription, use it. If not, ask your Dr for it or ask him about it and what it will do to help your lungs.

Avoid all of the over the counter medicine that will dry your lungs including NyQuil. Drink plenty of liquids. Water is good if you don't drink water, drink whatever you can. You want your lungs to continue working. Funny enough, cough drops are very useful. I like Ricola sugar free. As my pulmonologist suggested, once you tear up your throat from coughing, it will take a while to get over it. Sure, you can drug yourself enough to stop coughing, but that has bad side effects in my opinion.

If your lungs feel tight, Albuterol will help, but also hot showers, moist air can help as well including Humidifiers.

Good luck.

If it were me, by now I’d probably have been to the ER just as a precaution.

Doesn’t hurt to be a little bit extra cautious as we get older.

Take care, and wishing you a quick recovery.

If you read OP's post, obviously not.

Agreed, it hasn't helped mine at all. I was forced to get the vax, and this is the 4th time testing positive. This has been the worst one, yet.... The funny thing is, just a week or so before I tested positive, I had a long conversation with the dean of my school, who is my boss and also a full time ER doctor, on the long term effects/damage this virus has on our bodies....

If you read OP's post, obviously not.
However bad he is currently, the statistics show that there is a good chance of it being worse without vax / previous infection. Like he might well be having severe respiratory issues and possibly require hospitalization if not for the preexisting antibodies.

What does seem to corelate with severity is the amount of exposure you receive. If it's a low exposure your body can get to fighting the virus before it gets too established. If you get a big exposure the virus is going to get established before your immune system really gets going and you're in for a bigger fight to get rid of it.

At work we are seeing RSV hitting adults. So, far only one COVID case, everyone else that has been sick has been positive for RSV. No FLU cases yet.

Our area clinics are testing for RSV, COVID, and the FLU.

So far, thankfully our family has avoided it all. Praying you get well soon.

It didn't take you long to get from "certainly help" to "good chance".
Because the statistics are for a large population, you can't ever be conclusive on an individual case. That in no way invalidates the statistics or the science.

To anyone who gets covid and it's kicking your butt, the medicine mentioned Paxlovid when taken within 5 days of discovery is amazing.

My sister-in-law has a couple of chronic challenges one being insulin dependent diabetic, Wilson's disease and the damage it has done to her system. It was about year and half ago she got covid and her Dr. prescribed Paxlovid. At that time it had only been released for a couple of weeks. Only place to get it at that time was a Walmart pharmacy. One pharmacy in Kansas City and one in Lawrence. I drove to KC to get the prescription and got it to her about 6PM. She took the three tablets right then and again in the morning as prescribed.

My wife texted her to see how she was doing that morning and she said OK, kind of the same but not worse. At 2PM that day she texted my wife to tell her she was out in the barn cleaning horse stalls!

The FDA recently authorized pharmacists to prescribe Paxlovid to make it easier and faster to get. Very positive results with it and few contraindications.

I got Covid, for the first time last november. I was given Paxlvoid. I felt great until what is called the Paxlvoid Rebound. Then it was 3 more days of problems. Speedy recovery.....please ask for more then a five day treatment if you use paxlvoid.
