I recently purchased (rescued) a 1980 Kubota B7100D-P that has been badly neglected. When I got to removing the dash console, I noticed 2 ground straps attached to the 4 bolts attaching the steering column to the steering gear box, where the bracket for the bonnet hold down springs attach. The ground strap (#1) attached to the left rear flange bolt goes to the negative battery post. The (#2) ground strap (aprox. 30") attached to the right rear flange bolt is attached to ?? I'm hoping someone with a similar tractor can help me out. The shop manual doesn't show electrical ground connections. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Can you post a picture of it.
It doesn't sound stock.

The D-P was what Kubota originally called it.
I cant remember what the -P stood for.
Other models of the same vintage were D-P and E-P models too.
They dropped it a short time later.

Thanks for your response. The D designation (non synchro transmission) is the early version of the HSD. The -P signifies front loader. I took pictures ...have to find a way to send!! Thanks

I also have a B7100-D and just went out to check on this. Mine only has the one grounding strap to the battery. Hope that helps.

For the pictures…
When posting there is a row of symbols at the top.
Near the middle is one that shows a mountain. That is between the happy face and chain buttons.
Push the mountain button and then push something that says Click here. Then find picture that you want to post and follow directions. Use the large picture instead of thumbnail size.

Save post or add additional pictures but there is some limit on how many pictures you can upload in one post.

UMMMM sorry but No that's not what the D and the P mean.

B7100D-P
was a B7100
D = DT = 4wd
P = Multi Purpose (had to really dig for this)
They made a -T for tow (yes for towing aircraft)
And a -CS for creep speed (trencher model)

B7100 rarely were equipped with a loader which was considered an accessory item and not a factory added option like newer tractors.
Most if not all the loaders for the B7100 were produced in the US and not in Japan.

Thank you for researching the background of my rescued kubota B7100D-P tractor and also providing me with his "Birth Certificate".
I know now that he started out as a B7100 compact tractor (B), was assembled in the USA with a non synchronized transmission in 1980 (serial # 69---) in a 4 wheel drive configuration (D) to do all-purpose work(P) with a gifted front end loader.
Also, thanks to all who responded!! A special thanks to OrangeJalopy for taking the time to answer my question with a photo.
