Hi guys,

I have recently got B7100, and going through all around service

I noticed a knocking sound, which seems from the drive shaft, I have a video for it as below. Any clues?

Video 1

Video 2

Most likely something is loose and banging around. Since the tractor is new, let the dealer deal with it. Most likely something wasn't tightened when it was assembled. I have no idea what the second picture is of, but that looks like the item that is causing the banging.

Thanks DustyRusty

the second video is from bottom of the tractor, it seems what joins the shaft with the front axle

the tractor is used 1979 😅, I mistakenly mentioned new B7100; I meant recently I got it😅

That is why the fellow that you bought it from sold it. He couldn't figure out the banging either! :p

From the looks of the way that spring is mounted, it almost looks like was designed to move like that?

Possibly some sort of vibration dampener?

I wonder if that spring is weak causing the piece to go too far and "bang around" and needs to be replaced?

I have no idea though, it just a SWAG....

Edit: As I look at it again, I guess that spring should be at 90 degrees if it was a 'vibration dampener"

Please advise on type of transmission, Manual or HST.

Is 4WD completely engaged.
That shaft should only be turning when 4WD is engaged and tractor moving.
If this rotation and noise is when the tractor is stationary, we need to know

This forum has a number of members with B7100 who will get around to posting.

Which Jordan? Middle east or USA
Post complete serial number.

It looks like a bearing housing but it makes no sense for it to be floating like that. Could it be the back half of the front axle pivot support?

What I can't figure out is the 'yoke and lever 'above it. Almost an engage/disengage setup
I'd love to see a drawing of what's supposed to be there !!
looked at video #2 again....hmm, 'drive shaft' is spinning...
ANY chance that's really the CLUTCH throwout assembly?

yes, 4wd is engaged, and yes sound is happening when tractor is stationary or moving

I had another look, and it seems another shaft rather (PTO maybe) than drive shaft, I disengaged/reengaged the PTO, and the play gone

below video shows exactly the shaft location:

Video 1

and this video shows it without the wiggle/play
Video 2

Jordan in Middle East, and serial number is
B7001-71659; I have posted earlier another thread, and was told it is B7100

Perhaps your problem is not with the front axle shaft but rather the mid pto shaft going to a front mounted implement.

The shaft looks small like a mid pto shaft.

Without something connected to the front end of the shaft there may be a U joint banging against something.

"Since the tractor is new" ???
Those two videos don't seem to indicate a "new" tractor.

Looks to me like the shaft coming out from the clutch that drives the hst. Something must be worn and/or need greasing. The shaft beside it with the universal drives the front axle like on my previous b7200.

I asked someone in my area who owns B6001, and he told me it is clutch shaft, and the spring should hold it and prevent the knocking

BTW it is manual not HST

It seems the clutch throw-out shaft, and maybe I need to change the clutch bearing spring maybe, since mine seems a bit loose

The spring doe not look like it is correctly installed or may not be the correct spring?

I assume it is there to pull the non rotating part back into place when not engaged.

I hope that @North Idaho Wolfman comes along soon since I believe he will be knowledgeable enough to help. If not then you can send him a direct message
