Hi all

New here. Apols if this is a known problem with a solution already written somewhere.
B26 TLB Loader is TL 500. 4in1 bucket. Had it for quite a few years - only 200 hours on it.
Recently and suddenly, loader would not lower. And then on testing it would not raise.
No obvious causal event.

Details follow.
It _will_ raise and lower at a good rate_while_ the bucket is simultaneously curled or dumped but not unless that is happening simultaneously.
It will lower at usual type rate if the engine is turned off.

The loader will _creep_ a very low rate of rise and this gets _slower_ if i move the control - this seems to stop after some lift (might be my patience running out, but I think it stops).

The 4in1 bucket is not working - I only noticed this today, and I don't know if this happened at the same time as the loader raise/lower issue occurred.

No recent maintenance/repair work on tractor.

Control lever moves freely.

Investigations so far:
Hydraulic fluid level good.
No sign of fluid leaks tracing lines back to what I guess is the valve.
Disconnected the quick connect lines to the 4in1 bucket - no change in behaviour - have left disconnected for now,
Tried at different engine speeds.

I need to get going because it is snow plowing season (just for my driveway :) ....but it'll drive me crazy to try to work the front plow with it like this....so any advice on what to look at next would be much appreciated please and thank you. I am not too bad with mechanical things and being a long haul from a dealership here in Canada I would like to try to diagnose and sort this myself :)

Thanks all!!

This is a pretty common problem. Usual cause is the power beyond loop is blocked downstream of the loader valve. A bad or improperly seated coupler on backhoe supply/return hoses woukd be first place to look. Also make sure the 3pt control lever is in full down.position.

Thanks Dan - that is very helpful - I will take a look at those things. Might be a while before I return to this thread as have to leave here for a bit.
Thanks so much - it is great to have a place to start rather than my usual flailing around trying to work it out :)
Cheers, Jel

Solved!. Dan your suggestion led me to explore the backhoe and I found that I could move the loader up and down when rolling the backhoe bucket - or moving the thumb. And as I was doing that I noticed that the thumb foot control was getting stuck before it fully returned to its neutral position - I nudged it to neutral and all was well again. A quick clean and tiny drop of lube later and all is well. The plow is now on the front end and I am ready for the snow dump!! Dan, thanks so much for your encouraging reply that led me to poke at this further! Hopefully this post helps someone else one day!

You are welcome and glad you found the culprit !!!!

Your explanation of the symptoms was refreshingly clear and definitive. Just a matter of finding the exact location of the blockage.

Good diagnosis and problem solving. Have a B26 and haven’t experienced that yet. The B26 is such a great do all little tractor.
Good information sharing.
