Open it all the way and tilt the grapple all the way forward, then back drag with the loader in float. Then close the grapple. I don't do this on the grass, just in the woods next to the grass.

If I'm picking up leaves in the grass, I use a blower to make a pile and the just close the grapple over the pile trying not to get into the grass.
Thanks, didn't think it would be that simple. I never even thought of trying to pick up leaves with my grapple. Now I will have to try it.

Ringing in the New Year here by winding up the chipper and throwing some chips. Most of the mulch (older/dried branches) went to bedding for the chickens…the rest (fresh cuts)went to the compost pile.

Happy New Year OTT. 🥃

Loving the new tractor. Topped off, leveled and compacted a pad for my lean-to addition to the barn. Newly installed Piranha bar on the bucket works wonders on the frozen 3/4 ledge stone. Hoping to lay down PT sill beams next day or two before snow flies again this coming weekend.

I didn't think it would work as good as it does. It started when my wife cleaned out a section of our ditch that runs along our driveway. She racked the leaves up on to the driveway in a row. I thought if I could get just some of them up with the grapple it would make it a lot easier. I thought a lot of the leaves would fall out, but most of them stayed in the grapple when I closed it.

Did this Monday, just now getting to post. Used the grapple to move 3 60" Oak logs. I normally cut them 80", but I had to back up the hill a ways to get them out. Don't think I would have made it at 80". Had the ROPS up and the seat-belt on for these three.

Power Mole job on a sewer line yesterday. Ran into some issues but we were able to pull it off. Sewer line ran under an addition to the home so they only way to get this one done was with the mole. It was about a 30 foot run pulled through the old cast iron pipe.

I didn't get many pictures of this one, but here are a few. The mini performed well.

Hahaha. That is the main stack (cast iron). This home was just recently purchased and the original owner had painted all of the plumbing lines in different colors. I should've taken a picture of the pipes in the basement. he painted the hot water lines in red, blue for cold, waste in green. It was quite a colorful basement.

The top most line in pic number three turned out to be an electrical conduit run in galvanized pipe containing 2 live lines...we found that out after cutting thru half of it (we assumed that it was the water line going to the garage spigot). Nope! nice sparks while using a band saw.

Today was leaf day. Three houses with gutters to clean, three yards, trails, whatever you call the clearing in front of the shed, etc. Leaves everywhere. Some places a little grass still visible; some places 10” deep.

MORE LEAVES! (I don’t much like this particular chore.)

Joint project for the L and T. Got up about 90% of the leaves with the rake and grapple. Piled them up in several large piles. View attachment 117769 View attachment 117770
Once it was down to a thin enough layer for the T to mulch/blow it, finished with the T. View attachment 117771
Stihl blower played a small, but crucial, role as well. It has been camera shy since I ran over it with the Tundra last year. Works great, but kind of looks like it was run over by a small truck.

Edit: Just noticed the pic with the rake is one of, I think, 4 times I straightened the tines because they were too gap toothed to work right. When the tines spring back the circle at the 90 opens so I was thinking of threading some sort of pipe through the hole to further limit their rotational range of motion. 🤔
Who makes that pine straw rake?

Another day clearing up the old fence lines on the property. Loaded all up and to the scrap yard for about $115 return but at least I did not have to pay to dump it. Approximately 1600lbs of old t-posts, woven wire, barbed wire and a rotted out old hay ring. The electromagnet on the boom of the loader at the scrap yard takes about 2 minuted to off load everything. All in all a good days work with enough cash to pay for fuel.

Man, you never have a dull moment!! I thought maybe it was the downspout being dumped in there. ;)
