Hi guys. My L5030 is a PITA to get clamps on the battery for jumping and/or charging, there is so little room for my hands and especially the clamps. Has anyone come up with a solution?
I was thinking some type of auxiliary wires coming out of the grille area but I'll wager someone else had this problem and solved it. Suggestions are much appreciated.
I know it's early but Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to all.

Should use Anderson powerpole connectors rated for at least 300 amps....or whatever the starter draws...

To charge or jump start, connect positive to the post on the starter, negative to any nearby bolt head. Presto.

Not to change topic, but I've been looking at those for making it easy to hook up a 12V external fuel pump to my tractor for refueling. I would like to hear others that have used these and their experiences.
Great application idea. I have a 12v transfer pump myself. Might try it for refueling. I'm getting a bit long in the tooth to lift those 5 gallon jugs.

At 83, I can't do those 5 gal. jugs, (when full) either.
I just keep a couple of extras, and only put 3 gals. in each.

You won’t need to jump if you keep it on a trickle charger. How about doing that? Battery Tenders and similar come with a connection that hooks to your battery. A side effect is your batteries will last longer if you don’t totally discharge them.

However, if your battery is discharging fairly quickly, you might want to look for what is causing parasitic loss.

For charging, Buy a Battery Tender. It comes with a ringed plug.

For DC power beyond, for a winch, etc., Use the plugs listed above. But go with 2 gauge or higher (numerically lower) wire.

Used the cable that came with the transfer pump to run from the battery with a fuse to the connector under the dash and then put a connector on what was left of the cable for the pump.

Those are the connectors that I used as well. Wire one to the battery, and install wires on the other that terminate in booster cable type alligator clamps. Just make sure the wires are heavy enough to support the current running thru them when boosting.

Since I brought the General Lee home to work on, I find that I have to play Tetris a lot more, so an unfortunate side effect is having to start and shut down fairly quickly.

I hate doing it, but thats life in the big city.

Since the OP mentioned charging, what brand/type of battery tenders do y'all use/recommend?

I want one that mounts "permanently" and has a long enough cord to run the plug end to the same area as the block heater plug.

Kind of a tight squeeze, but this is my reality (currently)

I have a 4 bank Battery Tender Plus and got some longer tender wires off Chinazon to reach everything. I keep tractor, Harley, and 4 wheeler charged. The keep the wire on the ground protected I got some heavy rubber wire protectors thingys the wire runs through the machines can drive over them.

I got about 6 tenders going all winter. 2 on the tractors, one shared by the quads, another on the side by sides one on the zero turn, one on the gararaged car and some on spare batteries. Hmmm, maybe I have seven. I've found the HFT ones (their better ones that sold for over $20 a few years ago) work fine. I think I have a couple of heavier one but can't recall the name. I can look later if you want. All came with multiple plug-in attachments.
