One day I went to start my M4900 and the starter wouldn't turn. lights were bright and normal. So I got the old starter rebuilt and it still would not function. I hear a click when I turn the key off then another click 2-3 s
econds later. Don't have a service manual to see what other devices are present, such as a starter relay that might be bad. Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Does your tractor have a cab? The wiring is different between Cab and ROPS.

You can apply power to the solenoid to verify the starter is working properly or you could take the starter to a auto parts store to have it tested.

I would assume it is good since it was just rebuilt and start looking at the wiring and battery and safety switches that were installed to stop the tractor from starting.

Thank you all for the detailed description and illustrations. i will start on these suggestions and I am sure find the problem. Of interest, this tractor does not seem to have any of the safety switches you describe.
