It is very easy to fill this out and send to the appropriate politicians. If you haven't done this yet, and are in support of our 2nd ammendment rights, as well as common sense, click on the link. It only takes a minute.

I did not post the link to incite a new battle of the wills over gun laws, and I sure hope it doesn't go to that. If you are strongly opposed to guns, and in support of new gun laws, you are fully entitled to your opinion. Those who are opposed to new gun laws are also entitled, and this link gives them the proper, law abiding method to make that opinion known. Please don't ruin this by turning it into a battle. Respect needs to be mutual.
I say this because I posted the link on another tractor forum, and got harshly warned about it. I am glad that OTT allows some wiggle room for opinions.

Agreed, those opposed and those in favor should let their wishes be known to their legislators. I sent the link to family and friends.

That is refreshing as I am pretty sure Bill Ruger supported the 1994 AWB and the Mini 14 was not on the list.

I also seem to remember one of the several companies that owned S&W for a while supported gun control and for years I didn't buy weapons from either manufacturer.

I don't watch any of the political propaganda channels so I don't know what kind of crap they are saying. One thing I do know is they aren't going to take our guns. Politicians have a tendency to be stupid and bought. They know better than to talk about taking our guns. That is just propaganda.

Hodge, I think it is kind if funny that you state that you do not want people to reply with pro gun control opinions and then also say that you're glad OTT provides some wiggle room for expressing opinions by allowing you to post this.

Show me where I said that.
I did not ask anyone to not reply. My goal with the post was not to make a new soapbox for an argument. It was for those who want to make their voice heard in support of the 2nd amendment aware that there is a link to do so legally and respectfully. Key word respectfully. Desiring people to be civil and respectful doesn't equate to not allowing them to speak. The thread was to inform, not to start a new debate. Once a debate starts, the original intent gets forgotten.
Please ask for an explanation, and don't accuse me of something.
Mark

Hidge,
I'm sorry if you feel that I was accusing you of something. I must have misunderstood your statements.
When it comes to discussion about the second amendment, there is plenty of room for opinion. The second amendment provides an un-infringed right to bear arms in support of a militia. A lot of opinions differ on whether this means that everyone should be able to own any weapon they want to, or whether this is really meant to make sure that the federal government can't prevent states from maintaining their own military, or something in between. Where there can be little debate is that the authors of the Bill of Rights probably did not anticipate U.S. citizens using a Bushmaster .223 against unarmed children.

Ibeamcarver, my intention was to inform those on OTT who would be interested in the link. I didn't care to or intend to start another gun debate- we just had a lengthy one. It is what it is, since now you have started the debate.
And, I'm not saying that debate is wrong, or inappropriate. Just that MY intention was to inform, not debate.
If you are interested, here is the link to the last gun conversation.
