that fall will not hurt a bit - but that sudden stop is gonna leave a mark!

That picture makes me dizzy just looking at it!

Reminds me, despite my fear of heights, one of my first jobs was climbing for a tree service (good money), which I left for a job that included a requirement to climb roofs (better money). I was still afraid of heights but my fear of running out of money was greater than my fear of heights.

That dude is either crazy or REALLY afraid of running out of money.

It's not the balancing that gets me. It's the 30-40 mph winds up there that you have to react to!

My Dad worked on the tall buildings in the same time frame, but he was a carpenter. He saw people fly off buildings after picking up sheets of plywood. Otherwise, he felt it was pretty safe. Very few people used any type of safety line. A different time for sure ...

While in college I worked for a company the built grain elevators. Each grain bin was about 20' square and had three rods going thru the walls going each direction. The guy who always installed the rods would carry a rod on his shoulder while walking on the 2x6 or 2x8 plate.

I came back from Easter break and they were above the nearby power lines. They had moved up one more section while I was gone and it took a while to get used to the height difference. Some people handle heights just fine, I'd rather be on the ground.

That sort of "scaffolding"is widely used throughout Asia.
Many stories tall!
Bamboo is very strong stuff!

Its funny how the mind works, if that was only a foot off the ground, it would be easy to walk on and not fall off. Definitely not something for days you are a bit hung over.

And the opposite can be true also, at least with me. For some reason, I have never and will never jump off a high diving board! But I've made many jumps and free falls out of an airplane.....albeit many years ago....with no problems. Go figure!!

The entire structure would be in jeopardy if that was me, cause I would be hugging that beam behind him so hard, it might snap.....and probably crying like a baby too.....screw that!

This pic reminds me of When I was building my hangar one of the helpers was walking up a rafter which was an unsupported flange-beam before any other structure had been welded to it. It would only have been a 30-foot fall to a concrete slab…he probably would have survived after the E.R. visit….. but otherwise looked like this picture above.

He went by the name “K-T” and he was carrying a long purlin cross his arms as he walked up that sloping rafter. A thunderstorm about a mile away suddenly let-loose with a LOUD THUNDER-CLAP - and we all DUCKED in a reaction.

K-T just kept strolling up that beam as if nothing happened…. Someone yelled at him “K-T..!! Don’t that sheet Scare You..!?!?!?”

Without hesitation K-T answered, “I ain’t skeered of nuthin‘ but snakes, atom bombs, and fertile women.” ..and kept on walking. :ROFLMAO:

Seen many pictures like that over the years.

They give me heebie jeebies. Literally make my feet tingle just looking at them....

I hate heights.... 😨

At 6-8, I was required to help hang blower pipe on silos.

Lacking silo unloaders, also required to climb the door ladders to throw silage down all winter. If you've never tried that, it's an experience going up 30 or 40 feet on wet slippery rungs with rubber barn boots...

Didn't like heights then, and as an older adult it's probably a phobia.

I still have the 32 foot ladder we used to clean the wood stove chimney on the farm. Had to stand on the second rung to clean it - hugged the chimney...

No reason I should have a 32 foot ladder anymore.

If I were a roofer, I'd starve.....
