Diesel noob here. What does the clutch on the front of the fuel pump cam do? Was just messing with it before I installed it and it doesn't seem to let the gear free spin from the cam and thought that it should. Do I need to tear it apart to check it out or is it good?

I don't have an answer, but I would look for that info in the Service Manual? If you don't have one, try Kubota Books for your specific model.

There is no clutch on the front of the fuel pump or the fuel cam.
The gear does not free spin on the fuel cam.

This is all based on if your working on the engine in you L185, if your working on something else all bets are off.
