Found this on facebook. It is/was in the Kootenays dam in B.C. Canada. Supposedly it got stuck and was too much work to get out. The tracks are on backwards to give it better traction when backing up. It's on the "lost kootenays" facebook site.
I have apparently driven right over that Canso causway truck, a few times, and did not even realize it.Thinking about it. There supposedly a haul truck buried in the canso causeway, between Nova scotia and cape breton, it when over the bank while dumping into the cut that was dug to bedrock for the causeway. Also the is a dozer buried in a local road about a hr from home, it went into a sink hole while opening a new public road, they could not get it out, so they built the road over it.
Nope. I just read a book on the building of the dam. Any that died while doing concrete were removed because, the corpse would have made a soft spot in the concrete, and they did not want that. They did not care about the guy, just that it would have weakened the concrete. There’s a couple guys buried in Hoover Dam also.
I guess I fell for the B.S. mongers during the tour. Thx for the correction.Nope. I just read a book on the building of the dam. Our family made that drive from AK in 72. 1300 miles of dirt road back then. Took three days to get from the AK border to Dawson Creek(I think it was Dawson creek)I KNOW there are a LOT of dozers and such buried under the Alaskan Highway. My late Uncle Bob(yes, 'Bob was my uncle') , worked there, driving dozers. get it stuck, you had 5-10 minutes tops to get it out, or it got buried. He admitted to 3. Guys built that 2000 mile road in 8-9 months. The city took over 3 years for less than 2 miles....
Times have changed.....sigh
It was not a misonception. It was a told lie or a repeated rumor without basis of truth. It's a common misconception.
