Where to place loader brackets to bucket?

I recently bought a Kubota L3710 tractor with a
SMC Schutz 2409 Division Loader at auction. The loader didnt come with a bucket. I have a bucket that I am going to use. I’m looking for input on where to place the loader pivot points for the loader arms and tilt cylinders. Also how far apart the pivot points should be for the loader arms and tilt cylinders.

The bucket should be 2-3" below the plane of the tractor's tires when fully lowered. The easiest way to set that might be to park on level ground, put a 2x6 or 2x8 on top of a 1x6 under each wheel of the tractor and set the bucket flat on the ground in front of the tractor.

To establish the minimum distance between the pivot points, fully extend the bucket cylinders. Put a thin shim (1/8" or so) between the point of closest contact between the extended cylinder and the arm itself. Now measure between the centre of the pivot and the center of the cylinder piston mount. This will ensure the cylinder cannot contact the arm when fully extended. A greater distance will restrict the dump angle.

I don’t have a clue what you mean by “SSQL”. My other tractor is a 1949 Farmall M.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I’ll get to it sometime this weekend. I have to go get the tractor on Monday, then finish up some “honey do’s” that go put in the back burner during harvest and seeding.

Sorry, typo. That should have been "SSQA" -- Skid Steer Quick Attach. It's a standard for quick swapping of attachments to the arms. EG light materials bucket, palette forks, etc. etc. If you are making your own bucket and attachment system anyway it can be a real convenience and little more work. I made my own from scratch (as shown in this thread) but you can also buy adapters commercially.

I agree with torch. Now's the time to go SSQA. You can buy a RTU from ATI or others and the geometry will be correct, or fab your own. Then convert your bucket and you'll be ready for future attachments.

Whatever it costs now, you'll recover when selling, IF you sell...
Not getting younger , the older we get, and swapping 4 pin attachments is a royal PITA in the dark, middle of winter, during an ice storm.

That and it allows you to borrow neat attachments from your nieghbors that have the SSSystem.
Seriously,there's many useful attachments built for skid steers and you can rent them for one time use.. Post hole digger,blade,grapple,post driver,gin pole,manlift platform,concrete breaker and some you may never heard of but will find use for some day.
I recommend taking advantage of knowledge (aka lessons) Torch learned over the years at the academy of hard knocks,close calls,wasted funds and failures.

Bear in mind that some are too big or require too much hydraulic flow to be used on your tractor. Skid steer machines have a lot higher capacity.

I was given the option 4pin or SSQA when I bought my BX23S. SSQA ! 6 months later dealer got more coins from me when I bought the HLA pallet forks. They're on 50/50 with the bucket past 4 years......

I would tell one trying decide if the option is worth what it costs to wiegh the facts. After the fact bucket forks can't handle equal weight to dedicated forks and bucket forks can tweak the bucket if you push the limit. Pay it now(grab SSQA) or pay it later (replace/repair damaged bucket)
