The shuttle shift cable on my M9000 broke. I purchased a new cable and we got about two hours on it and it stopped working. We took the floor plate off to check it out and the cable shelf had melted and the cable froze up. We replaced that one and made sure everything was routed properly with all brackets. Same thing happened again.
Any ideas to what is causing this?

Check the cabin ground strap to see that it is not corroded or broken. It is I'm thinking at the RR of the cabin to the rear-end housing.

If you have poor grounds, the shift Cable may have changed its identity from a shift cable and is now a ground cable, which is insufficient and burning u 🔥

It isn’t an electric cable. It’s a steel cable and the insulation/sheathing is melting and binding the cable.

If the cabin ground is not making a good connection, the current looks for another path which it commonly will find in a control cable. The control cable gets hot from the current flowing through it and it melts the sheathing. It is also possible the control cable has rubbed through a positive battery cable but you probably would have noticed that right off.

You need to locate your electrical problem to keep from cooking the control cables.
