Grab hooks

I should I hold out and find someone to weld a couple of grab hooks on for me or go ahead and get the bolt thru kind? Either/or???

I like bolt on - but that is just me.

@Kennyd4110 makes some damn nice hooks that fit damn near any bucket.

If I were you, I would invest in a TIG welder and weld them on. Then you will have a TIG machine at the end.

Since I am spending your money, this machine would do nicely.

Or you could just get some bolt on ones.

That Miller looks like a toy. Buy the bigger Miller welder that comes with a trailer hitch and wheels under it. Once it is delivered, go to welding school for at least 5 or 6 months, and you will be qualified to weld on your new hooks. If you turn out to be a lousy welder, then buy the bolt-on hooks.

I chose option #3, the no-drill, no-weld option. Electrical 'strut' slid into the pockets of the bucket,hooks welded to plates that bolt onto the strut. It's crazy how USEFUL they've been over the past 4 years !

My hooks come welded to the outer most plates.

How strong is that Uni-Strut, in an application like what you've used it for? Share some examples, weights lifted, etc.

I like outside the box thinking.

If you're not a really good welder, buy bolt ons. A badly welded tow hook usually comes off violently and with great velocity. And it tries to do as much damage as possible to life and property.

I use my bolt on unit from JU Fabworks. I use it all the time. It has a 2" hitch receiver, 2 chain hooks and 2 rings.

I don't remember what I paid, but right now their listed at $219. Best $200 I've spent on the tractor. I move my trailers and Log splitter around using the hitch.

I have a set of kens. No need for weld on really. I've maxed out the loader on my lx several times hanging weight from them. Most recently a 413 wedge head w/ trans and all the fixins.

I did with my 1880, and love them. Added the under piece that has hole for pad eye. Use both all the time.

Did you put the hooks on the back side of the bucket? Not much room on top for a hook.

I took an angle grinder and cut the bucket level off, and place a hook directly in line with the lift arms, on each side, then added the add on brace under with the place for pad eye. I like the capability of being able to choose chain or a less aggressive method of rope and pad eye for stuff I don't want to scratch. There is a video on the Bolt on hooks site how to measure exactly which bolt on hook you need. Seeing as I cut off the level plate, I added the Kubota leveling rod from Messicks.

Oh I might add that my bucket is the pin on. I decided on pin on as I anticipate no additional implements for the front end other than snowblower.
