Stuck on a tree stump

I have a 1984 Kubota B7100. I was pushing some small trees down and had one down and tried to back up. The tree was down but it got caught on something under the tractor. I had it in 4 wheel drive so I got out of it but then all of a sudden I couldn’t move and green fluid was pouring out from under the tractor about mid ways down. Can anyone tell me what I did to it. It looks to me there was a plug or bolt there and that’s where it was running out. I’ll post a pic. Please help. I love this little dude .

Typically, green fluid would be the engine coolant (antifreeze/water mix). IF you pushed a tree over (and UNDER the tractor) and got hung up on it....then I would be looking at the radiator and lower hose for leaks/damage.

Hydraulic fluid (though not normally green unless a dye has been added) would be next on my list to check. A line or hose may have been damaged.

It looks like it should have a cover over the whole thing but there is no holes to attach a cover or clips. I ran my finger up inside the hole and it feels a piece of the tree bark is in it. I’m going to power wash the entire thing and engine cleaner. It needs it bad. Maybe by then I can tell where it’s coming from or came from. Ha! I just thought of a solution.. DUH! Check the fluids .. what ever it is should be empty. Thank you

It doesn't look like a bolt hole to me, but clean it up and inspect.

I think you'll find you have damaged the radiator someplace or a hose/line.

It is not unusual for the 'source' of the leak to not be where the fluid is dripping from.

You'll note that all of the bolts and part of the plate have fluid on them.

So, yes....check your radiator coolant level (if low or empty) you may have found the trouble.

And FWIW....stop running over trees.

OP states that after he extricated the machine, "I could not move"
Loss of coolant would not create a "could not move" situation unless the engine quit,...... and that is not mentioned.
Loss of tinted hyd. fluid?
Isn't it true that JD sells colorant?
The PO might have added it to the B7100 hyd. fluid.

"so I got out of it" .......would seem obvious to me that he was NOT (high centered) hung up.

The B7100 is small and light enough that you could literally kick or push it off a stump if you got it hung up.

Check coolant level and transmission oil level. That will answer your question.

Isn't it true that JD sells colorant?

I can confirm that they do sell a dye. I put it in my machine.

Luckily the stuff I got was red and not green though.

Lol… but that’s what I do… or at least try to. I’m attempting to clear some brush. Upon further inspection I am still at a loss as to where the fluid came from. Radiator is still full of green liquid BUT… the transmission/hydraulic fluid is empty and there is another hole dripping what looks like and probably is hydraulic fluid.
i got enough nerve to try and start it today (fearing I had destroyed something in it) it fired right up but would not move and the rake on the back wouldn’t move at all. The bucket raises and lowers and tilts just fine. This tells me there’s a problem in the rear hydraulics maybe … if there is such a thing. I found my manual but it isn’t showing a diagram of the thing I’m looking at. Does this help at all ???

Do not run it without any hydraulic fluid in the transmission. You will destroy the transmission and pump.

There are two ways to deal with it
1)Fill it up with hydraulic fluid and see what happens and where it is leaking. So far that method seems to have been a failure.
2) Start taking parts off to see what and where it is leaking out. You or a dealer can do this.

Unless of course the user is a real tough dude. One who can push around a Honda Civic, with Ag tires, like he would a baby stroller. Tractor, loader, box blade and fluids is about 2,000 lbs.

Seriously? Aint no way in hell my B7100 weighed 2,000LBS. Not even close. I got mine pinned between two oaks shortly after got it and was able to muscle it from side to side and had it out without too much trouble.

hank you. I only started it to see if it would start and see if the rear and front hydraulics would lift and see if it would move. Yes I’ve been told to
Put more hydraulic fluid in it but I tild them … what good would that do? It’s only going to run out the same hole. I’m going to take better pics of it in a few minutes and post them after I cleaned it up a little. Thank you for your help. I hate taking it to a dealer. I’m looking for a good diesel mechanic nearby… almost an impossible feat

Seriously? Aint no way in hell my B7100 weighed 2,000LBS. Not even close. I got mine pinned between two oaks shortly after got it and was able to muscle it from side to side and had it out without too much trouble.

Depending on the model, the bare B7100 weighs in between 1,200 and 1,300 lbs. With loader and box blade he could well be in the 2,000lb range.
