New to Kubotas

I’m totally new to the Kubota world!
Yesterday I purchased a L3000dt tractor.
Can someone tell me about the Kubota letter system? Like what’s the difference in the L, B, Bx, M, and so on?
I don’t have a clue what it all means.
But I really do like the Tractor I bought.

EXAMPLE L3000
L is the size class
The last 2 digits (00) of the number are the series number, so 00 is your series number.
The first 2 digits (30) of the number is the Approximate horse power, so 30HP

Now I’ve learned something today, that’s very good information. And Greatly appreciated!
I was thinking that there had to be a system.
Its similar to the Old Cub Cadets of the 60’s & 70’s. The Cubs numbers, the first on or two numbers were the HP. And the last number was what trans.
All of the even numbers were manual stick shift Garden Tractors.
All the odd numbers were Hydro transmission.
Say a Cub 123 = 12hp. with a Hydro. A Cub 102 = 10hp. with a Manual Trans.

In the series digits it seems like the older ones in a “family” are 00, then 50, or sometimes 01. So a 00 is older than 50, but a 30, 40 and newer that a 50. I’m sure one of the old timers can explain it correctly.

Here on OTT we say “pictures of it did t happen”, so post sone pictures of the new to you orange tractor.

My older B is from 1986 and is B6200. The HP is only 14 horse. Is there time frame when the nomenclatures changed?
If not somebody owes me about 48 horses.

Make a complaint...... to Kubota.......for missing "horses"!

Yes right after your model they changed to a standard numbering system.

One other thing, "L" has 2 classes; Grand L's that have LxxY0 (Y=1,3,4,5 or 6) vs. standard L's which are Lxx00, Lxx01 and now Lxx02 - Grand L's have all the bells and whistles, Standard L's are bare bones with a wee little more bells and whistles added in the 01 and 02 series.

Thanks. I sort of figured you would know.

I see the logic is less than obvious.

So an L3800 is newer than an L3830 but older than an L4240? Or, presuming the GL doesn't have a 00 series (which I’m not sure, but I don’t think it does) it’s different between the GL and L.

Good point, and it provides the year ranges in which each model was manufactured. Although, on occasion, and not often, I’ve seen a spec on TD that is incorrect.

About 40 years or so ago I saw my first Kubota when my neighbor brought in a L185 to disk up his garden. I sounded kinda funny, think it was maybe a 2 cylinder, not sure.

My first Kubota was a little B something with only 14 or 16 hp. Didn't keep it long because it was crap. It was HST and wouldn't pull the hat off your head.

Now days I am the proud owner of an L3301 HST with 450 hours and love it, except the chicken squat PTO cable, which I improved upon.
