Hi,
I bought a used L3800 with FEL 524 (my first tractor). I'm trying to install a hydraulic top link, and noticed that the 3rd function rear is installed but not connected to the hydraulics😩 I've been reading a lot on how to make it work but I'm not feeling confident, so here I'm.

When I got the tractor the hoses R1&R2 were next to the filter, with caps and duct tape.
  1. Is ok to connect R2 with F2 with a Tee?
  2. What should I do with R1?? another Tee? or should it goes with F1?...
  3. any consideration to have when buying the fittings?
any advice on what I'm doing I'll really appreciate!

thanks,

No tees.

Disconnect hose F1 from the outlet block and connect it to R1
Connect R2 to the outlet block

The million dollar question is why was it disconnected? I was initially puzzled by that valve but after some study I realized somebody got very creative and rotated the lever box 90 degrees CW to allow the lever to match up with the slot in the OEM lever guide. That lever should be pointing straight out to the right not up. I did not know that was possible and I see one of the machine screws is missing so it might no be a factory approved option....

Your tractor needs a power beyond hose on that rear valve. I only see two hoses supplying the valve. Is there another port (most likely plugged) on that valve? It might have a stamp in the casting "PB" or "PY".

Power goes to the FEL first, then you would plumb in this second valve from the power beyond (high pressure out) of the FEL.

IF R2 is coming from Port "T" (tank return), you can "T" it where you marked.... Need more photos of the valve with any markings....
No - if you look closely you will see that valve has no provision for a power beyond port. Whoever installed it is using T for power beyond and it must go to port F1 on the outlet block. We can debate the wisdom of that but it is what it is.

I would replace the valve and get the correct one; Open Center that has a power beyond conversion plug.

If you want to do it cheap, https://www.surpluscenter.com/Hydra...M-Chief-220906-DA-Hydraulic-Valve-9-12460.axd ...don't forget to order the conversion plug at same time...

Personally, I like the control I get from the Wolverine Series by Prince Mfg. More money.... To the the OP, are you ever going to get a side link? or a grapple? or need any more rear remotes? Replace that one valve with something that can handle 2, 3 or 4 remotes!!!

Not me. I would hook that valve up and use it until it poops. Might be a very long time....
