Not when I can buy them for $15.

Dan

Yeah, they are pretty cheap these days, (at least cheaper than my time) but I did use my dovetail cutter set to make an adapter to fit a KDK 5C Collet toolholder to fit my QC post:

That still beats counting turns of a handwheel!

The Sinpo has a lot of features that are pretty much useless for lathe work, but can be real handy when milling -- bolt hole circles, radius smoothing, angles, etc. I don't use them often, but sometimes they can be real useful. If you ever get the urge to add a DRO to your lathe, consider moving the Accurite to the lathe and a Sinpo (etc. -- there are many similar makes out there these days) to the mill.

Lathe and mill DRO's are different animals. On a lathe you want functions like diameter readout on the cross feed taper on Z , etc.

These days lathe and mill DRO packages are dirt cheap. I paid right around $375 including the scales and shipping for the ones I have and they have been trouble free. Crashed the 1200mm X axis scale on the mill several years ago and they shipped me a replacement for something like $150.

Wow, ya'll have some very impressive machines!!!!

DRO's are on "The List", but for now I will be content with some QC tool holders.

I just ordered 5, and am awaiting my visit from the "Amazon Fairy" later today... :)

I can recommend "my guy". Johnie is an eBay seller (xiao1207) doing business direct from mainland China . Super helpful, knows his product, responds promptly to email, fast cheap DHL shipping and excellent prices.

My 12x36 uses BXA also.
I had a single scale & readout on the Z axis of the 9x20 Enco that I sold to NIW.
Been kicking myself ever since. Should have kept it for the X axis of the 12x36 Birmingham.
DOH!

Thanks!
I actually made it out of the nut for the original tool post- about the right size, and decent steel. (hence the threaded hole in the middle)

OK, so you will be using it when you get the time.
