Okay. I have a L4400 with FEL. I am trying to decide what size trailer would allow me to haul that with the 6 foot bush attached.

Maybe some of you out there have some advice to this setup.

Thanks, Aaron

Measure the overall length.
A maximum of 2' overhang is permitted on the rear , weight distribution considered.

With my l4600, I would not be able to transport the tractor with cutter attached on my 20 footer. 24-26'? Unattached, maybe on a 20'.
Dang. That changes things a bit. Thanks for the info

possible option ?
back onto trailer, remove bushhog, turn tractor around, drive on, lower FEL.
that 'should' reduce length by about 6-7 feet ?
YES I did read 'attached' BUT 'that changes things a bit' is in his last reply.
Everything in life is a compromise.....

That's actually a great idea. I have no issue doing that.

What is your tow vehicle? Any plans to upgrade to larger tractors and/or tow vehicles? Any plans to have to haul vehicles/projects?

Price out different lengths and weight ratings. When I priced mine 20’ to 24’ was only $200 more. My set up with a bushhog could possibly fit on a 20’ although I bought a 24’ 14k. Wish I would have went with a 30’.

I would hate to have to unhook my bushhog every time to load it up. Although I sometimes put my disc on the front then load the tractor with bushhog attached.

I agree w/ JasonW. Beyond that I’d offer it sure seems to rain and be dark whenever I need to load and unload and it could be slippery / inconvenient to be fenagling an implement on….just my $.02. if considering trailer to barely fit tractor do you know where tractor should set for correct balance and tongue weight? I’d want a little extra room to move forward or backward depending on what hauling not to mention if you ever want to have a tool box or something when hauling the tractor (atv or a deer blind or other implement or whatever…maybe some time you want to rent a CTL). A trailer fills up really fast and it’s helpful to have extra space to use for other than just the tractor sometime. If planning for fold up ramps that is another consideration as well. A deck over is much more convenient if loading from the side. 🥃

I would want a wireless camera on the trailer and install TPMS on the trailer. Also plenty of tie down points(stake pockets and D rings).

Two things every trailer needs to have
1) brakes on all axles
2) backup lights
Although I agree with both points, I didn’t even know non commercial equipment trailers could be had with backup lights.

Back up lights are an option on newer trailers. Not many have them. Most newer trucks now have backup lights wired into the trailer light plug on the truck.

The standard 7 pin wiring has backup light wire in it. I've always assumed everyone who makes trailers has never actually backed one of theirs, fully loaded, up a gravel driveway at night in the country.

You can also add them to 4 pin wiring and have ebrakes as well with a simple mod.

One thing I would ask is "How often do you plan on trailering it?"

If it's once or twice a year, then maybe the "tractor gymnastics" for a smaller trailer are ok.

However, if it's twice a month, well then "Buy once, Cry once" would apply to my choice.
