And that can get you into trouble. Nice cool morning and doing some mowing wirh the 3 year old L3901 and rear finish mower. I was backing up to the edge of the steep bank behind my shop and letting the mower drop down over the edge. The spot rigjt at the end was short and silly me I figured the tractor could back down it. Nope = wood chips are near zero traction and backwards we went. Fortunately I had left mysef an escape route and the shop wad unscathed. Note to self - stay clear of the edge...

Was a seatbelt and crossed trailer hitch chains used?

Dan,

Just glad there is no hospital bill being processed! We have all been on the edge at some point or another!

That, there is an "Oh sh#t" moment for sure.
Been living on this ski slope for 30+ years - that little backwards sled ride barely moved my heart rate. It's the long ones where you have time to contemplate getting sideways that stains your pants.

Ain't that the truth. Honest to God as I was backing down there I was thinking about my first time over the line. I was 16 and pressing my luck along the edge of a similar slope with a Ford 881 when it lost traction on the wet grass and slid sideways down the bank. Backwards is way better......

I haven't done that yet, but I can imagine that nothing says "pucker factor 10" more than sliding backwards on a tractor.

Glad it turned out ok for ya! (y)

I live on a ridge with a slope on my entire property. Those moments get seared into your memory and you do NOT want to repeat them ever!
