Niece failed her driver's test as she did not 'keep up with traffic' ( all were doing 110-115), though posted at 100 . Apparently if 'everyone' is doing 130 THAT is OK ???

Brother 'politely ripped' the MTO examiner and she got her license 1/2hr later....
Drive the speed of traffic. You are a nuisance and cause accidents if you don't.

Like the jerk that drives 55 (posted speed limit) in the fast lane while everyone is going 80. Get with the flow and program or take the bus. I would have "failed" her too.

As for the "idiot engineers' speed indicator, it's digital kids. Digital! The car probalby doesn't go that fast unless you dropped it out of an airplane at 30,000 feet. And if it goes that fast it probably adjusts once the higher speed is reached.

On Sundays there are many Amish buggys on the road as well as the 80 MPH types. I guess it is OK when they take them out if they get in the way? It might be better if some people would grow up or take the bus.

My watch battery died but it's still accurate twice a day.😉

My fuel gauge seems less accurate. When I'm at 1/2 tank it's probably 1/4 full.
Some cars are indeed that way. Dodge trucks were infamous for it. In my Ram it is "full" for considerably longer than its at 1/2 tank.

There actually was a study done on that. I'd have to see if I can find it later. But the gist of the results was that without speed limit signs the vast majority of people still drove at or near what the speed limit on a given roadway would have been. Something like 98% within 5mph mabey? It used to be brought up all the time within the less government is better side of politics because it showed how speed limits were just for revenue generation.

But not the topic of this discussion so back on track: Freedom units are the onky proper form of speed measurement. Not kommiemeters.

Oddly enough, at least in NC, during COVID restrictions when only essential workers were allowed out and enforcement was negligible, accident rates per mile driven went way down and speeds on interstates went way up while speeds on non-interstate type roads stayed about normal. My takeaway was speed limits aren’t all that useful but removing idiots from the road is useful.

Whatever gets figured out on the ‘loonie’ meter panel, I hope for f@%# sake that it has a light / shakes the wheel to indicate when driving speed limit in the left lane and the smart technology / lane departure feature pulls it back into the right lane on I90.

no passport so can't get south of the 49th...

it'd be interesting to see IF the dash stuff changes from Metric to Imperial on the boarder.
Technically it can be done, has onboard GPS so it KNOWs where it is..

it does KNOW the speed limits wherever it is......

A lot of people say "keep up with traffic"....if traffic's going 130+ mph, and you're at or very near the speed limit (say, 75 in this discussion), then who's wrong if you get a ticket? Cop? Or you. Guarantee the cop is not going to pay your bail and I can also speak from experience, the judge isn't going to be very kind to you.

Secondly. I saw a wreck a couple years ago. 2 cars rolling down the freeway, they passed me, one on each side (3 lanes I was in the middle). I was running about 78 (legal limit 75). Keeping up with traffic ya know. They were probably 95+. One of those cars came up on another that was running about the same speed as I, tried to cross lanes behind it and clipped the quarter panel. Both cars spun, one was hit by another car. Driver of the slower car was partially ejected before the vehicle she was in hit the bridge support broadsided. By time I got to her, she was gone. Her brain was hanging partially out of her ear area and her guts were partially removed from her belly. Spine and such broken, body doubled over. Mind you she wasn't the one in the legal wrong here, she was the one running close to the speed limit. Other driver was also hurt but didn't die. Grueseome scene. My part timer coworker was the first first responder to get there, I knew him when I seen him and said don't even bother, she's gone. Of course he had to check. I kept a few pictures of it for a while but have removed them. That's what excessive speed can do. We get complacent because we've been doing the same thing daily for however long and then one day, "it" happens and oh my goodness why did it have to happen to such a great person who's never done anything wrong.

similarly a guy I used to know, has a drinking problem and Iv'e been telling him for decades that it'll catch up to you at some point. It did. He's had 2 DWI's and this last time crossed the center line and hit another car head-on, killing the 2 in that car and barely getting a scratch on him. He is being charged with manslaughter among many other charges and possibly going to the big house for a good long time. It only takes once.

"you get a ticket" For what, obeying the law?

I am traffic too, you can adjust to my speed just as well as I can adjust to the speed of the idiots.
