I bought an L4060 (was LE, but added all missing bits)

Thinking about adding a backhoe....

I'm going to need to add rear hydro, Kubota or aftermarket?

I would love to beef up the hydro...
Would it be possible, or advisable to beef up the hydro to the L47 pump?
Would that necessitate upgrading all hoses, some or all piston/cylinders?

I don't have float on std 3PTH.
Using a woods finish mower, with only rear trailing wheel/tire makes the cut raise/lower as I go over tiny elevation change.
What can I do to fix this? Add float to 3PTH?

Congratulations on you purchase, I looked hard at an L4060 as my next purchase

1. Rear remotes. I'd be inclined to go with Kubota remotes since it's a new tractor presumably under warranty. However, one dealer told me that remotes were on back-order and he thought maybe they'd see some in 3-6 months.

2. Hydro, I don't know if it's possible to switch to an L47 hyd pump, I'd guess not since hydraulics and transmission have been sized for the 4060 platform. Unless it was a Kubota authorized modification I'd wait until the warranty was up before modifying the hydraulic pump. There is some information on the interwebs about checking and adjusting the hydraulic relief valve, that may provide some additional oomph.

3. 3 pt hitch. They are designed to be raised by hydraulics and lowered by gravity, you can physically pick up a side link (unless it's bound), however you can't lower it beyond where the hydraulics are set. So in a sense the 3 pt already as some float built into it -- upward direction only, unless perhaps if you have draft control. Finish mowers are typically designed to run will all four gauge wheels on the ground and not supported physically (i.e, vertically) by the 3 pt hitch. They usually are designed with pivoting connection points (side and top links) that will allow the mower to move with the contours (left and right, up and down) of the ground. That said I normally fully lower my 3 pt all the way when using the mower -- it follows contours just fine that way. It may be possible that even if set up correctly the local topography may cause a wheel to momentarily lose contact with the ground, maybe changing the approach direction would ameliorate the situation. Bottom line check to make sure the mower is connected and set up properly before trying to modify the 3 pt system.

Rear hydraulics for BH or something else?

The BH hydraulics are simply two hoses with a male and female quick coupler.

Rear remotes for cylinders requires a dotectional control valve and more hoses.

Aftermarket cheap and easy. Genuine Kubota much more expensive and not as easy. Aftermarket not as pretty but quite possibly better quality. Kubota better integrated and more ergonomic.

Yes I've seen the other finish mowers that have wheels on the front and the back and I've considered jettisoning my current woods for one of those. That might be the most cost-effective way to fix this problem.
BTW: may or may not be so obvious, my current woods mower has no wheels on the front

For the BH.
Do you have a link to aftermarket supplier?
As I said its just two hoses and a male/female quick coupler. You can get that at any hydraulic supply or most farm supply atores. All you need to know is how long and what ends you need on the hoses.
