Getting up in the B2601 is a high step so I wanted a step and Kubota offers one but its real close to $100.00 with tax and shipping too much for this old fabricator. So looked at the Kubota step and figured I can do something like that so here it is, just a bit of clean up and into the paint room and then install

That looks like some really thin metal. 🤔

I coated my steps with rock guard spray. It is much more durable than the kubota spray paint.

Are you gonna weld that thick piece to the bottom to help shore it up?

Although the metal is thinner on Kubota factory step, those bends add strength to it.

But not enough strength I guess, mine is bending a tad in the center but seems to have stopped

I hit something with mine early on and tried to straighten it; So that could also be why my step is bending?

BTW I used some "truck bed liner" coating from Wally World. I think it was made by Rust-O-Leum?

I have been pretty happy with it so far.

specialtyrepairscustommods.com, in Bay Roberts, Newfoundland, Canada, makes excellent steps, and many other custom/specialty parts for our Kubotas.
Prices are rather high, but products are top quality.
It is a mom & pop small business.
Many of us here on OTT have bought from them, and have always been more than satisfied.

The step for the Kubota b2650 is a direct bolt on part that fits the B2601 but if you have a belly mower it will hit the step when you raise the deck up.

I was also thinking that looked like pretty thin steel. For anybody else thinking of adding a step a flexible one might not be a bad way to go. Buyers makes them although not cheap one could be fabricated pretty easy and still be able to use the mower deck. I’ve also seen them made with heavy gear chain, so they would not move front to back, but would be able to move side to side
I’d love to see someone put electric step that fold out when your not in the seat and folds up when you plunk your keister. Maybe it’s been done and I just haven’t seen it yet.

Got some finish work done on the step today, kind of rushed the paint curing but installed the non-skid tape and the outer reinforcing edge for the step it also covers the edge of the non-slip so when getting on your boot doesn't tear it lose, tomorrow hope to install the step
