Grand larceny is defined variously in every state. . .

Just so long as we get the bad guys. . .

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS/Gray News) - A convenience store owner in South Carolina is facing murder charges after he shot and killed a 14-year-old boy he suspected of shoplifting.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says the shooting happened at a Shell gas station on Parklane Road in Columbia, around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Rick Chow, who owns the Shell gas station chased Cyrus Carmack-Belton from his store and shot him just down the road.

“It’s senseless, it doesn’t make sense,” Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said in a Memorial Day press conference. “You have a family that’s grieving. We have a community that’s grieving over a 14-year-old who was shot.”

The owner told police he suspected Carmack-Belton of shoplifting inside the store, which the department said did not happen.
And what happened at the Lowes in the subject of this thread IS grand larceny in every state and DC.
Now, what happened in Richland is probably along the lines of murder. That's a separate issue. Most states do not allow the use of deadly force to protect property. Some do.
You are attempting to conflate two entirely different things.

Lowes is very "good" at letting long time employees go.

I "think" (opinion) it comes down to MONEY. After working at a place for a while you accumulate raises, pretty soon you're the highest paid employee at that store. If they think they can replace you and it costs them less money, they're gonna make you leave in one way or another.

My girfriend's uncle was with Lowes store in Kentucky for 22 years. Store manager. He had 13 months to retirement and already gave them the notice. Corporate came in the day after him putting in his retirement notice and said you are being replaced, tomorrow is your last day.

To this day, because of that I do not shop lowes-at all. I'll drive across town before I shop lowes.

The ironic part? Her uncle....was pretty down about being let go like that, but we talked to him about his ability and said you know what, you have a talent to do home stuff, use it. Start a handyman service. In 2017 he opened his handyman service to the public, with the wife running the business part and him doing the "work" (not taking away from her part, as it's equally hard). In 2018, first full year, he's grossed $1.22M, and buys ALL supplies at smaller mom-and-pop supply houses, nary a penny is spent at Lowes. Good for him! It is WORK, but he loves it.

I will admit, my former employer was good at making elder employees leave too. Exactly what they did to me. Took em a while though, and in that 7 or 8 months they kept trying to make me leave, I made sure to make em eat their wishes as often as possible. They figured I'd not leave. Then I gave em the news after they quit looking for another tech, busiest part of the year. It wasn't intended that way, but it's the way it worked out. They wanted me gone, and they got it....but I can tell you firsthand, I won that war. 29 years and almost 6 months of it, the last 2 1/2 were with a different ownership, same dealer though. First 27 were great.

And a couple years later the manager contacted me and said "sorry". LOL. I'm not gonna tell you what else he said. But I knew exactly what they were doing at the time and afterwards. They thought I was stupid enough not to see right through it. Wrong.

Just talked to her Uncle...

he's at St Thomas vacationing. I asked him how on earth he got time for a vacation. He said one word. "Wife".

In other words she said we ARE vacationing and that's that. Ain't like they ain't got the money.

This is an example of why I always say that every single person in the USA has the opportunity to succeed, however not all of us have the willpower to do it.
